This Case Management Assistant position is located Direct Reports, Civil Rights and Liberties, Ombudsman and Traveler Engagement, Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to:

• Using detailed knowledge and experience, accesses the redress case management database to process and track redress applications from the traveling public, and reviews incoming applications for completeness ensuring that they are referred to the correct partner organization for analysis.
• Assists supervisor in researching and obtaining information to prepare findings, review plans and special studies.
• Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring reports and other documents and reviews/finalizes documents prepared by others.
• Carries out administrative support functions including organizational inbox management and file maintenance. Incumbent plans and coordinates the work of the office.
• Composes and reviews outgoing correspondence and action papers submitted to ensure that the materiel is properly prepared, coordination is completed, procedural requirements have been met, grammar is correct, and security markings are correctly applied.

KNOWLEDGE

Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy at Standard Grade General level or SVQ2 in Early Years Care and Education, or National Certificate unit in Childcare & Education, or equivalent competency, to enable the jobholder to communicate effectively with staff and pupils, and provide sensitive support.

The jobholder must be familiar with child development and able to respond to the needs of individual pupils. Jobholders should have previous experience of working in this field of work.

To be fully competent in the role jobholders will be required to undertake addition training courses eg first aid, calm techniques etc.

If the post is within a Nursery Environment then the Jobholder must be registered with or obtain membership with the SSSC within 6 months of appointment. In order to register you must currently hold the relevant qualifications or be willing to work towards attaining these qualifications within the first year of registration. Exciting opportunities are available within North Lanarkshire to assist children who have a broad range of additional support needs.

As an Additional Support Needs Assistant (ASNA) you will work with children, some of whom have needs of a severe or complex nature, to support them in their school environment.

In this role you may be involved in classroom related duties such as the preparation of classwork and materials, setting up and operating teaching aids, recording programmes and reprographic work but there will also be a requirement to care for children, assist with their personal hygiene requirements and ensure the maintenance of stocks of hygiene sundries where necessary. Daily reception and departure of children and messenger or escort duties will also be a part of the role.

Recent experience working with children on a voluntary capacity or in a school situation is essential,as are good communication and interpersonal relationship skills. A willingness to undertake training as required is also essential. Experience of working with children/young people who have additional needs is desirable. Qualifications in Standard grade/O-grade (or equivalent) English and
Maths/Arithmetic are also desirable.

Prior to commencing in this role, you are required to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member. SSSC registration may also be required dependent on placement.
