As the Assistant Operations Manager in the West Region, you will support FLS’s mission by overseeing timber harvesting programmes across Lochgilphead, Oban, and Fort William. Working collaboratively with foresters, supervisors, and machine operators, you’ll lead operations that bring timber to market safely and effectively. You’ll also work with other teams to coordinate timber supply contracts and meet our financial targets, which enable FLS to reinvest in sustainable forestry and environmental restoration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the harvesting team, fostering a safe and productive work environment.
• Manage timber harvesting income, expenditures, and financial planning.
• Collaborate with regional teams, customers, and contractors to drive the harvesting programme and address challenges.
• Ensure operations meet high standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in commercial forestry practices and team management.
• Strong foundation in health and safety practices.
• A qualification in forestry or land management; GIS knowledge is advantageous.

Highland Cinema is looking for an experienced, capable and enthusiastic Administration & Finance Manager to join as one of our key Senior Managers. In this exciting role, you will work closely with the existing Senior Management Team and Duty Managers to help maintain, shape and improve all aspects of our operation. The successful candidate will be involved in many aspects of day-to-day office management and the running of the cinema and café bar operations. The position offers excellent rates of pay and incentives.

Duties and responsibilities

• To support the General Manager and their Deputies at a senior level.
• To handle all day-to-day aspects of finances and bookkeeping for Highland Cinema.
• To compile and pay purchase invoices on a weekly basis.
• To deal with company mail and emails on a daily basis.
• To issue sales invoices and chase late payments for events and private bookings.
• To coordinate all cash handling and maintain records in an accurate manner.
• To reconcile all credit card transactions and other receipts.
• To complete daily, weekly and monthly sales and cash reports for Management.
• To complete the quarterly VAT submissions.
• To submit and pay PAYE via Government Gateway.
• To compile and maintain staff records and hours/holiday periods/sickness for the Payroll procedure.
• To account for and operate as the ‘Tronc Master’ for the tips for the staff in a timely manner, as agreed with the General Manager.
• To schedule and minute managerial meetings as required and issue the minutes, also at this time to produce a brief all staff email with relevant information to keep them informed.
• To deputise for the General Manager in their absence.
• To assist the General Manager with any HR issues arising and issue HR documents.
• To maintain and update two Point of Sale database systems.

Essential experience and competencies

• Experience of bookkeeping software. Currently we use Xero and Google Workspace.
• Experience working in a financial role, with budgetary and negotiation skills.
• Must be detail orientated with strong organisational skills.
• Able to ensure that in all matters the Highland Cinema is represented professionally and positively.
• Experience of working in a collaborative team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure to time scales and targets.
• Self-motivated, able to work autonomously, use own initiative and engage and assist the team in a variety of diverse activities.
• Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, suppliers and customers.
• A good working knowledge of equal opportunities, and an understanding

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, this post requires a qualified accountant (ICAS, ACCA or CIMA) to work alongside our Payroll & Accounts Manager to take accounting responsibility in overseeing the company finance & accounting systems. The successful applicant will take ownership of timely month-end close out processes, reconciliations, and management reporting.

Previous experience with managing a team is also essential for this role, along with experience in UK financial reporting requirements.

This is a hands-on position, requiring working knowledge and experience of accounting disciplines including financial accounting, compliance, projections and cash flow forecasting as well as systems development and mentoring the finance team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Accounting leadership - Overseeing the Finance/Accounting systems, working alongside the Payroll & Accounts Manager, assist in working with a team of up to 12 working within Payroll, Sales & Purchase Ledger between our offices in Corpach and Kishorn. Overseeing the full accounting function of the group.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of our accounting processes.
• Take owenership of timely month-end close processes, reconciliations, and management reporting and compliance.
• Reporting on finance performance of the company to Group Directors and Management boards.
• Working with payroll to ensure strict adherence to company policies and legal standards. Filing of P11D's with HMRC
• Provide essential operational support to the group's daily operations, facilitating a seamless workflow and efficient practices in conjunction with the group's strategic objectives.
• Foster the development and maintenance of robust financial controls to secure the group's assets and ensure financial integrity.
• Project Management and Process Improvement lead and manage ad-hoc projects, demonstrating flexibility and a capacity to drive change. Champion the ehancement of finance processes and tools, including the introduction of automation to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Working with Group Directors on budget reports.
• Working with Group Finance Director and Group Managing Director on large business transactions, including investments.
• Collaborate closely with external accountants and auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Full UK driving license essential.

The Ideal Candidate:

A minimum of 3 years prior experience TIG welding (AC & DC)

Able to read drawings and work to deadlines

Confident liasing with management team to organise work schedules
