Maintenance Engineer

We are working with an exciting and innovative client within the construction industry. Due to site expansion and restructure, they require a Maintenance Engineer at their Leeds site. The jobholder is responsible for the daily preventative maintenance and repair of heavy plant equipment to ensure efficient, continuous operation of the site. Working as part of the maintenance team as well as working closely with the Shift Supervisor, production teams and contractors, ensuring the day-to-day maintenance and repairs is completed effectively and safely, alongside continual improvements to the production plant. Developing a detailed understanding of the facility to continuously improve maintenance systems and ensure they work properly and that they comply with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Responsible to personally carry out Daily, Weekly & Monthly preventative planned maintenance (PPM) activities, in line with the manual and manufacturer's instructions that are recorded in the site logs. * Responsible for the workshop area, and tracking/replenishing consumables.

* Responsible for the spares and sourcing suppliers to ensure spares are readily obtainable, with the longer lead-time critical spares held in stock, resulting in minimal plant downtime.

* Hands on guidance and training, to assist the teams with both preventative and reactive maintenance requirements associated with the plant and equipment at Leeds.

* Responsible for the continual operation of the plant, fault-finding and breakdown repairs.

* Take a proactive approach to providing improvements resulting in minimising downtime and optimising production.

* Flexible to cover staff shortages and call-outs to deal with breakdowns and operational problems, and to carry out other reasonable duties required by the site management.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

* At least 5 years' experience within a heavy industry (aggregates, concrete, mining or waste) maintenance environment with the ability to fault find and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues.* Preferably CGLI, NVQ, BTEC or HND qualified.

* Knowledge and experience in but not limited to: - Conveyor belt systems - changing bearings and rollers, fitting skirts. Pan mixers - Replacing arms, tips and wear plates, gearbox repairs. Hydraulics - servicing hydraulic packs, replacing ram seals, valve and hose servicing /repair Pneumatics - Airline replacement, compressor servicing, valve replacement.

* Ability to carry out basic welding and fabrication repairs and improvements as required.

* Strong team worker with the ability to train and motivate others in the understanding of plant and machinery maintenance.

* Ability to review and improve PPM systems and processes within a growing business, and (in conjunction with the Site Manager and Senior Supervisor).

* Willingness to be innovative, work under their own initiative, with strong organisational skills, being able to plan, prioritise and organise various tasks at the same time.

* Must have a flexible approach to work and be contactable out of hours.

DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

* Experience within an aggregates, concrete, mining or waste environment.

* Fabrication and welding experience.

* Basic industrial electrical knowledge.

* Holder of an IOSH or recognised safety training certificate.

* Hold appropriate mobile plant operating certificates, ideally with the ability to train others.

* Confident and diplomatic communicator, both written and verbal.

Hours of work: Mon-Thursday 9.00am -17.00pm, Friday 8.00am - 2.00pm
Salary: Market Rate
Holidays: Full time - 25 days per year (Holiday year Jan - Dec) + 8 Bank holidays, Pro rata for part time.

Operations Manager - Civils / Highways - Freelance

One of the UK's leading infrastructure contractors, working across a number of sectors including; transport, highways, water, energy and telecommunications.

Overseeing of the Sheffield highways project from start to finish as well as other civil projects across the area. Experience on highways/roads is essential for this role.

Your new role

• Overseeing of the Sheffield highways projects. Experience on highways is essential for this role.
• The successful candidate for this role will have several exciting projects due to be delivered this year. Manage operational resources effectively, ensuring projects are completed to programme, budget and within required SHEQ standards.
• Deliver time, cost and quality performance in accordance with targets, process and procedures.
• To liaise with clients and internal management to ensure compliance with Standards, Policy & Procedures and Industry Regulations and Legislation.
• To coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes are achieved in the planning and delivery of project work.
• Close liaison and continuous communication with other managers within the business to ensure efficient operations and best utilisation of all resources in order to meet estimated outputs, deliver the programme, within budget to achieve correct financial return.
• Build effective relationships with senior members of the supply chain and client teams.
• Adopt a proactive approach to the project to identify best practice, implement improvements, gather and feedback knowledge and inform the team on "what good looks like"
• Ensure Construction Phase Plans, method statements and safe systems of work are in-place before work is started and that required safety standards are always maintained.
• Ensure subcontractor site personnel are competent and fully trained to undertake their work.
• Fully engage with commercial teams and take responsibility for the commercial performance of the project.
• Keep accurate records including site diary, records of work activities, resource allocations and as-built information.
• Lead the project team in the development of construction programmes, phasing plans and method statements.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and duties of Principal Contractor role, ensuring adherence to Client H&S Plans, development of Construction Phase H&S Plans, compilation of Project Specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), delivery of Site Safety Toolbox Talks and completion of regular Site Safety Inspections and Audits.

What you'll need to succeed

• Civil Engineering or related qualifications. SMSTS & CSCS Experience of managing client priorities, communication and expectations.
• Evidence of managing health & safety through the construction phase in a highway and/or rail environment.
• Knowledge and experience of partnering with a strong delivery focus
• Demonstrable experience in the successful project management of Civil Engineering, Rail or Infrastructure schemes
