An exciting opportunity has become available for a 12-month secondment to cover maternity leave for a Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist band 6.

Haematology at Wythenshawe hospital is based on our friendly haematology day unit, within reach care to inpatients. Care is Consultant led with the support of the Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist, advanced nurse practitioners and a Ward Manager. There are 3 full time consultants and 4 haematology nurses. The day unit is open Monday to Friday.

Conditions treated include high- and low-grade lymphomas, myeloma and chronic leukaemias as well as a range of non-malignant conditions. MDTs take place with Trafford and MRI weekly.

Assess, plan, prioritise, implement and evaluate nursing interventions to meet patient’s needs.

Undertake comprehensive health care needs of patients, changing treatment plan as necessary.

Provide psychological support for individuals and carers, identifying and involving the appropriate multi-disciplinary services in order to ensure that the individual needs of the patient are met.

Be responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in their specialty. Able to interpret information and take appropriate action and lead others to do so.

Advise and support patients to manage their symptoms, giving highly specialist advice as appropriate

Provide specialist care , knowledge and expertise, whilst being continually

aware of the importance of empowering colleagues to ensure dissemination of know ledge and best practice.

Applicants will join a full rota team covering Manchester Royal Infirmary which is a Major Trauma Centre with linked helipad that has a focus on penetrating trauma.

Successful applicants will have similar opportunities to our senior emergency medicine trainees including a dedicated educational supervisor, work-place-based assessments for portfolio, access to training including in house simulation, audit, delivery of medical student teaching, journal club, POCUS training, virtual case discussion and learning. We are a department with ongoing research activity and research opportunities with excellent academic leadership.

The job entails being part of a 24-hour rota, covering, days, nights, and weekends. You will be expected to assess patients, make primary diagnosis, and initiate emergency treatment. Emergency medicine consultants cover the shop floor from 08:00 to 00:00 with 5-minute major trauma consultant response outside of these hours. The rota is 2016 T&C's compliant.

The workload will involve seeing minor injuries, ambulatory patients, major, resus and major trauma cases and covering our Clinical Decision Unit. Our department is a busy inner-city institution and provides cover for a diverse population with specific medical and social needs providing an interesting and varied case mix.

Primarily, trainees’ duties will be to provide, safe, effective, and timely care to the patients presenting to and under the continuing care of the Emergency Department. You will also be providing guidance to junior colleagues where appropriate and eventually as your role develops you will progress to streaming patients, directing the workforce, and managing the department. Trainees will be expected to act according to GMC guidance on good medical practice and adhere to Trust policies on infection control, sickness reporting, risk management etc.

Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit is the North West centre for Cardiopulmonary Transplantation, including the VAD (ventricular assist device) programme, an established respiratory ECMO service and as part of our heart failure service we are able to provide cardiac ECMO. It consists of a 26 bedded purpose built Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit and 5 bedded satellite Post Operative Recovery Unit, combining both level 3 and level 2 care.

Applications are invited for the post of Nurse Endoscopists at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (based at Wythenshawe Hospital but with some cross site working).

A comprehensive and expanding gastroenterology service is provided by the Trust including:
• Comprehensive IBD, nutrition, hepatology and HPB services with specialist nurse support.
• All diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic modalities including capsule endoscopy, balloon enteroscopy and a tertiary EUS/ERCP service.
• A tertiary Functional Bowel Disorder Service including hypnotherapy with a state-of-the-art neurogastroenterology laboratory undertaking endoanal ultrasound, anorectal physiology testing and HRM with impedence pH monitoring, BRAVO capsule.
• The appointee will be expected to contribute to endoscopy activity as well as service development, across all sites

This is an excellent opportunity to become involved in the rapid development of Endoscopy services across Greater Manchester.



Undertake diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy using advanced and specialist skills in endoscopy as an independent autonomous practitioner in accordance with defined protocols. Working within endoscopy the post holder will identify the need for and request further investigations as appropriate and advise on further investigations required. The post holder would provide regular endoscopy sessions and on a flexible basis to cover unfilled lists. The post holder will provide professional leadership by personal example and ensure the delivery of a high quality, patient centred service across endoscopy services. The post holder will take part in the unit’s Global Rating Scale process and standards and have the ability to develop services, and assist with the achievement of JAG accreditation

The nurse endoscopist will act as the clinical expert and professional resource to the multi- professional team, patients and carers within their specialist service. This will include the management of a caseload of patients , as appropriate. His/ her own working practice should be developed to a level whereby they can directly or indirectly influence all aspects of care and management of patients within the speciality. The post holder will ensure the delivery of high quality, clinically effective care, prioritising and utilising research and collaborating with colleagues in everyday practice.

Responsible to the Focused Support Team Manager, the post holder will act as a key worker for children and young people admitted to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital / Managed Clinical Services, (RMCH/MCS) with mental health presentations. This job is based at North Manchester General Hospital

This is a great role to start your career as a Pharmacy Assistant, as you’ll receive all the training and support you need to be your best. The Directorate of Biochemistry is across 4 sites and all sites have state of the art equipment including the largest fully automated Roche tracking system in Europe incorporating Roche 8100 /p612 pre analytic systems, Roche 702, 801 and Roche Pro analysers.

Our Specialist Chemistry sections at Oxford Road and Wythenshawe sites boast internationally renowned specialised assays comprising of Waters, Thermo and Sciex Mass Spectrometry instruments using highly advanced analytical methods plus various other techniques such as HPLC, RIA, ELISA, Calculi Analysis and other manual assays.

The post holder will act as a registered Biomedical Scientist providing scientific services to patients as an aid to clinical diagnosis. The successful candidate will be required to participate on the 24/7 out of hours rota and undertake a wide range of complex analytical procedures, performing a range of manual, semi-automated and automated tests using scientific knowledge and experience to comment upon and validate results in line with ISO 15189.

Suitable candidates will require Biochemistry experience post-registration and have experience of working out of hours. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 HIV Specialist Nurse to join the established HIV nursing team within the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit at North Manchester General Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and adaptable individual to join our team.

This is a great opportunity to develop clinical knowledge and skills in the care of those living with HIV., You will be involved in the management of a caseload of people with multiple needs. The post holder will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team which includes, Consultants, Registrars, Pharmacists and clinical psychologists carting for people living with HIV.

This post will require you to have a high degree of autonomy, manage your own clinic caseload, possess excellent communication skills and ideally have experience in caring for patients with complex care needs.

The post holder will be expected to work across multiple settings including outpatients, inpatient wards, the community and outreach services. They will be involved in all aspects of the care of people living with HIV and will work as part of a wider MDT.
