The successful applicants will be suitably qualified and hold relevant experience.



Supporting the Helipad Manager you will be part of the Helipad Response Team (HRT) your main role will be to ensure the Helipad remains operational responding to all helicopter movements.

You will be self-motivated, able to work unsupervised and capable of co-ordinating and leading other members of the HRT.

Main responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Preparing the Helipad for operational use each day and closing down at the end of shift.

Ensure all equipment is appropriately tested and available for use.

Lead the response to any incidents during helicopter movements.

Full training will be provided prior to taking up the position.

This is a full time post averaging 37.5 hours per week on an annualised rotational 12 hour rota, 365 days of the year.

Annual leave will be pre allocated to suit operational requirements of the helipad.

The Manchester Cytology Centre is looking for an Associate Practitioner to be responsible for ensuring the organisation and delivery of a coordinated and responsive cervical cytology sample reception and LBC processing service in a manner consistent with Trust and local policies, procedures and protocols. Duties will include supporting the administration and management of the service, supervising MLAs ensuring that staff carry out their duties in accordance with established policies and procedures, training and first line management of staff including appraisals and other HR processes.

The post holder is required to support the department in delivering a comprehensive service over 6 days.

· The post holder will supervise a team of MLAs in the Cervical Cytology section of the department.

· They will provide support to MLAs, scientific and administrative assistance to Biomedical Scientists and Consultant staff in the receipt and processing of cervical screening samples.

· They will direct, supervise and train MLAs and trainee staff as appropriate.

· They will be competent in the use and trouble-shooting of a range of automated, semi-automated and manual instrumentation.

Building on the NHS contribution to the 100,000 Genomes Project, the introduction of a national genomic medicine service has created 7 Genomic Laboratory Hubs (GLHs). The North West GLH will be hosted by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

The North-West GLH is now seeking ambitious individuals to fulfil the role of a Genetic Technologist. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone wishing to work in an advanced laboratory environment and be part of a team delivering specialist diagnostic services. This position would be based at St Mary's Hospital, Manchester.

The NW GLH operates a 6 day delivery model and therefore new applicants should be aware that any future postholder will be required to work a pattern to support this; which could include occasional Saturday and Bank Holiday working.

You will have a good degree in a biological discipline ideally with a significant component in human genetics. Good computer skills are essential and previous experience using bioinformatics or genetic analysis software packages would be advantageous. Previous experience of lab work in a diagnostic genetics laboratory is desirable. You should have good communication skills, be able to work well in a team, remain calm under pressure, and be able to prioritise workload. The work requires attention to detail and good organisational / multi-tasking skills. Some essential tasks are repetitive and require specific unbroken work periods. You will need good levels of both concentration and manual dexterity.

Full training will be given and the successful candidate will be expected to work towards Professional Standards Authority (PSA) Accredited Voluntary Registration via the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS). You will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing further knowledge and skills where appropriate. The post will involve working within a technical team carrying out laboratory processes as well as some administrative work. A flexible attitude is essential as is the ability to work to tight deadlines. You should be willing to be part of a flexible working rota.

At North Manchester General Hospital Pharmacy, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer.

You will need good communication skills for liaising with ward staff, pharmacy staff, porters and drivers. An exciting opportunity has arisen within Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for 3 highly motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologists to work in one of our three Cared for Children’s CAMHS teams for a period of 6 months. MFT CAMHS provides three targeted services to support the emotional and behavioural needs of children and young people cared for by Manchester City Council (CAMHS LAC), Salford Council (Starlac) and Trafford Council (Trafford CAMHS CiC). These are well established multi-disciplinary teams of staff offering assessment, intervention, consultation and training. Short term monies have been secured to support new developments across the teams.





This post involves working in one of the three bases to support the teams in service provision. The post holder will be involved clinically with young people and their carers, under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist and will be given appropriate supervision to enable the successful performance of clinical and other duties. The post holder will be expected to manage databases, develop new systems as required, analyse information and present results to the clinical team. The post holder will also be expected to assist the teams in the preparation, instigation and evaluation of a variety of clinical, teaching and research tasks.

Are you an ACP, who wants to work within a community based MDT, having a passion for supporting patient care and keen to make a difference? We are looking for an enthusiastic Advanced Clinical Practitioner who wants to join our Community Response Team and support patients to stay at home, reducing the need for hospital admission.

The ACP will primarily work within the IV service but will rotate between our Hospital at Home service, Crisis Response Teams as well as the Discharge to Assess team. The IV team enables patients to receive safe, effective treatment at home instead of the need for a hospital admission. You will provide medical assessments at home alongside our GPs, with overall care under a hospital consultant. We receive referrals from community services, GPs and the acute trusts including ED with a focus on keeping patients at home where possible. A confident communicator with strong organisational skills, you will thrive in an MDT environment and will be instrumental in supporting and developing this service, to ensure a high-quality service for our patients. With a passion for continuous development and service improvement, you will be involved in a variety of projects and development of new care pathways. You will receive regular supervision, in-service training, and support.

You will also have the opportunity to work across hospital and community whilst developing key links and networks with acute and community colleagues. This will enable you to use your specialist clinical skills across all four pillars of advanced clinical practice to determine the most appropriate pathways for your patients and will include access to virtual patient monitoring for patients that would benefit from additional clinical oversight.

You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team across acute, community and voluntary partners to ensure discharges are safe and effective and to prevent re-admission.

Using your experience and knowledge, you will support other team members to ensure we deliver a high-quality service for our patients, providing education and support as needed.

The Two hospital sites are working in unison to develop a single cardiac service across the Trust.

A strong commitment to our team is essential for this post and a broad range of nursing experience in Cardiology or another acute area is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. . A full comprehensive training package will be provided and a mentor will assist in the individual needs of the successful candidates.

In the Catheter lab we are aware of the need for flexible working. Working patterns are presently Monday to Friday with occasional weekend shifts. On completion of your competency programme, the post holder will be required to undertake some on-calls as part of our 24 hour emergency team.

MFT has undergone a huge transformation programme including the deployment of a new PACs system and a new EPR system (Epic EPR), including a new Radiology Information System. Since September 2021 the trust has used Sectra PACS as part of the GM Collaborative Imaging Procurement Project (‘GM PACS’) which links imaging records for all 8 Trusts in Greater Manchester. This gives Reporters and Clinicians full live access to all reports and images for a patient regardless of where they have been imaged. The Trust has invested in a new state of the art EPR product called Hive, which went live in September 2022. This is the Epic EPR system, and it replaced 100s of legacy systems across all the MFTs sites. The system includes a new RIS (Radiant) embedded in the EPR which replaced our legacy system (CRIS). The new EPR includes cloud-based Dragon Medical One speech recognition, and the system gives reporters full live access to the patient’s entire MFT notes, as well as collaboratively features to communicate with clinicians and perform MDT work. The system includes up to date contact details for the patients current treating team, allowing easy communication, as well fully automated and integrated result alerts systems. This is an ongoing long-term project with further improvements and opportunities over the coming years.

We are inviting applicants for the post of Clinical Research Fellow in Urogynaecology. Candidates should be highly motivated to undertake a postgraduate degree and they will be expected to register (and self-fund) an MPhil with the University of Manchester, with the potential to convert this to an MD degree, depending on academic progress. These are also clinical posts and candidates should be at a level expected of an ST3+ trainee. The split between academic and clinical time is 60%/40%. This post is ideally suited towards candidates considering future subspecialty training in urogynaecology, whilst maintaining clinical skills through working in busy tertiary and secondary care settings.

The Research post will involve a mixed methods evaluation of women who have sustained complications of polypropylene mesh. There will be a qualitative study to understand their lived experience of mesh complications. There will also be an observational study which will investigate the potential cause of the pain some women experience following polypropylene mesh continence procedures.

The Clinical Research Fellow will be supervised by a team of consultants. The Clinical Research Fellow will need to respect the roles of others within a multidisciplinary team and communicate with them appropriately.

The weekly timetable will vary from week to week. The clinical component may include sessions in Urogynaecology outpatients, urogynaecology theatre and ward rounds, or other specialist sessions. Research days are usually fixed.

We are seeking three dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced Cardiac surgery/ Cardiology or Cardiac critical care nurses to join our team as trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners (TACP). The TACP will be working in a very busy speciality and will demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills and be able to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team. You will demonstrate a true passion for this speciality and strive to deliver excellent care to patients throughout their journey, working closely with other members of the cardiac surgery multi-disciplinary team. The TACP will also have enthusiasm to maintain and improve their knowledge and skills and a willingness to educate and develop other health care professionals caring for cardiac surgical patients. The TACP will also play a key role in providing care to our patients and will be expected to drive standards of care and innovation and support education, research and audit.

The TACP will be supported by trained ACPs and members of the medical team during your training. You must undertake a Masters’ level qualification in Advanced Clinical Practice, which will incorporate the independent prescriber module. The successful post holders will attend university 20% of their working week and 80% clinically in the workplace during term-time. The TACP will be expected to develop across the 4 pillars of advanced practice: clinical practice, education, research and leadership/management.

The post holder will undertake a 2 year Masters programme in Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) to enable them to enable them to work towards independent autonomous clinical practice as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. The Masters programme consists of a combination of university and work-based learning. As part of the programme, the post holder will be released for a designated period, to successfully complete their study in preparation for their future Advanced Clinical Practitioner role.

The areas for the post holder to complete work based learning in will be discussed and agreed upon successful appointment and will be related to the specific competencies required to meet the needs of the service. Successful completion of the programme and development as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner requires engagement in all aspects of the Masters programme.

The post holder will be allocated a mentor who may be a Doctor or an Advanced Practitioner. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month fixed term contract or secondment for an experienced Healthcare Scientist/ practitioner to join the team in the Sleep Service, Trafford General Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

The role is to support the sleep service in its delivery of a high-quality service both in the main sleep service and at our Community Diagnostic Centre based at Withington Community Hospital.
The Sleep Service is a modern dynamic unit servicing a large area of the North West. It has a CPAP user base of over 8,000 patients and provides a wide range of services including diagnosis and treatment of non-respiratory sleep disorders. It is actively involved in the teaching of students on the PTP and STP courses at Manchester Metropolitan University.



The position will involve:

Performing, analysing and reporting on in-patient and outpatient sleep studies (including respiratory polygraphy, full video polysomnography, multiple sleep latency testing, maintenance of wakefulness testing and actigraphy).

Initiating treatment with CPAP and the follow-up of these patients using agreed protocols in both face-to-face and telephone clinics.

Teaching, training and mentoring of students and junior staff.

The service encourages and supports flexible working but the successful applicant will be expected to cover evening shifts on a rotating roster. The successful applicant will also be expected to travel to work at either Trafford General Hospital, or the Community Diagnostic Centre based at Withington Community Hospital (WTWA) as service demands require.

Being supervised by Registered Nurses & within Trust guidelines & protocols, you’ll assist the Nursing team in delivering the excellent standard of patient care that you would expect for yourself and your loved ones.Your duties will involve contributing to the efficient running of theatres; assist registered practitioners and the multidisciplinary team ensuring that a high-quality service is delivered to patients and families.



On joining MFT, if you are new to working in healthcare, you’ll be supported to develop your knowledge & skills through our Support Worker Development Programme for Nursing Assistants. The great news is, the completion of the Support Worker Development Programme will give you the opportunity to progress into a Band 3 Nursing Assistant role.



If you’re an experienced Nursing Assistant with a comprehensive range of skills & seeking a new opportunity in a Band 3 role, you’ll undertake a skills analysis when you start to ensure that you meet the skills required for your role. If there are any gaps identified in your knowledge, you’ll be supported to access relevant clinical skills modules to support your progression to a Band 3 post on completion.



Evidence of prior learning will be reviewed and considered.
