Initially the scope of practice for the post holder would be to manage the treatment of ADHD. This may be extended to other diagnoses based on education, training, development and achievement of competence, as well as the clinical caseload and mix of the team. To undertake all relevant physical health monitoring associated with ADHD treatment e.g. weight, blood pressure and pulse. This may be extended to patients not on the pharmacist caseload. To modify the treatment plan with respect to drug therapy once trained in diagnostic tools for ADHD management (and other diagnoses where appropriate). To act as a core member of the multidisciplinary team, attending medical reviews and other clinical case review sessions across a geographical area. This will include partaking in multidisciplinary review of new referrals and actively advising on medicines-related issues to ensure the most appropriate management of caseload by the team. Where appropriate, referrals requiring only advice directly back to GPs may be undertaken. To provide specialist education and training to consultants, other prescribers, other health care professionals, clients, relatives and carers. This may also involve presenting complex, sensitive or contentious information to a large group of staff, service users or carers. To provide highly specialist pharmaceutical advice concerning the care and treatment of service users within the service to promote safe, effective and evidence-based use of medicines. Design and deliver psycho-educational sessions for parents and carers, GP and schools. This will require effective and adaptable communication skills. To act as a clinical specialist pharmacist for the adult ADHD services across the directorate and ensure that pharmacological treatments used in ADHD service are in line with national guidance, legislation and best practice through the development of guidelines and policies. The post holder will support the implementation of the shared care pathway for service users with ADHD across primary and secondary care. This will involve effective communication of complex information about individual patients and medicines, as well as the planning and facilitation of care between clinical staff in OHFT, GPs and community pharmacists, and patients and carers. The post holder will ensure cost effective prescribing within the team. This will involve monitoring the adult ADHD prescribing budget across the team and developing opportunities for cost and quality improvements. The post holder will support the implementation and monitoring of the trust Medicines Optimisation Strategy with respect to the adult ADHD services in the directorate. This will require excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent planning and organisation of a broad range of complex activities and ongoing programmes which will require ongoing formulation and adjustment. To support the effective operation, monitoring and feedback of the Trust Medicines Policy, Medicines Optimisation Strategy, ICS Formulary, NICE Guidance and other policies and guidelines approved by the Drugs & Therapeutics Group, including those agreed across the Buckinghamshire Integrated Care System. Investigate medication related incidents within the services and produce remedial action plans and undertake risk assessments if required. Undertake and support the consultant psychiatrist and clinical team with research and innovation projects. To provide leadership and guidance to all pharmacy staff with respect to adult ADHD related issues, and to support and supervise junior pharmacists and pre-registration pharmacists as required. To plan and carry out audits that evaluate medicines use, the medicines management process, the operation of policies and procedures relating to medicines and risk management processes in the Trust, including national audits e.g. POMH-UK. This will include ensuring that all audit action plans are tracked to completion.

This role will require you to travel between community locations, you must therefore be comfortable with driving for work purposes and able to travel freely within the hours of the role.
