To assess, diagnose, develop treatment plans and provide effective podiatric treatments, using a problem solving approach based on clinical need and evidence based practice. This is frequently with patients with complex medical conditions such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, vascular insufficiencies, physical or other disabilities and other vulnerable groups. To provide early intervention whenever possible to enable long term gain. To commit to the philosophy of care with an emphasis on patient empowerment and independence by providing education and information to help patients manage their own foot needs. This will include providing education sessions for new and current patients. To undertake specialist surgical intervention for complex nail pathologies, for example nail avulsions and chemical destruction of the nail matrix with local anaesthesia. To undertake basic biomechanical assessments in order to prescribe, manufacture and dispense orthotics or simple insoles referring to specialist service as required. To manage a domiciliary caseload within a geographical area. This includes working with admin teams to book appointments and using clinical time effectively. To maintain clear, comprehensive and accurate records. To update patients medical history, evaluate progression and work with the client to develop their treatment plan as required. To participate in specialist clinical rotations, gaining in- depth knowledge and experience in advanced areas of podiatric practice. Working closely with mentor to achieve development targets. To actively participate in clinical support (clinical supervision) and utilise reflective practice as a method to ensure quality of care for all service users. The Royal Surrey Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Guildford provides high quality cancer services and is a busy district general hospital with an accident and emergency department and full general medical and surgical teams. The Haematology team deliver level 2b care, including intensive chemotherapy for AML, salvage treatment for high grade lymphoma and intensive treatment for primary CNS lymphoma. We work closely with colleagues at Ashford and St Peters Hospital and share a level 2 in-patient service based at the RSFT. There is a 1:10 combined ward attending and out of hours on-call rota. Care is delivered by a team of committed and highly skilled staff including 6 Haematologists, 3 Clinical nurse specialists, 2 Haematology Registrars and Designated Junior Doctors at the RSFT and 4 further Consultant Colleagues from Ashford and St Peters Hospital.
