To dispense prescriptions in accordance with professional and ethical standards laid down by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) ensuring that Departmental standards of quality, accuracy and timeliness are met. To dispense clinical trial medication and extemporaneous products in accordance with professional standards and good dispensing practices set out by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) including cytotoxic agents meeting all Health and Safety, COSHH and departmental standards. To dispense Controlled Drugs to ensure that the requirements of the Misuse of Drugs Act (1971), General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards, and ensuring departmental Standard Operating Procedures are met. To document receipts of Controlled Drugs into the controlled drug register as soon after receipt as possible. To ensure that registers are kept accurate at all times, reporting any discrepancies to the Dispensary Team Leader. To ensure all drug transactions are entered accurately and timely to the pharmacy computer system so stock discrepancies are minimised. To maintain and review drug to-follows to ensure an effective system of drug supply, through effective communication with relevant pharmacy and ward staff.

You will need to have administrative experience of working in a busy Switchboard/Helpdesk environment and the ability to manage a busy workload and to prioritise. You should be able to demonstrate excellent inter personal and communication skills and have the ability to forge and maintain relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff, the ability to develop and lead effective teams, work to tight deadlines with a can do attitude. The role will need strong leadership abilities and you must have excellent interpersonal skills, being able to inspire and lead a team. The job plan will be subject to annual review, with any revisions sought by mutual agreement but it is expected that the successful candidate will work with the CMG management team to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and reflect best practice with processes and governance to match - this may require new and flexible ways of working in the future. The clinical sessions are currently 8:30-12:30 & 13:00-17:00 i.e. 4 hour sessions. Any variation needs to be agreed by the Head of service and the general manager. Theatre sessions include additional 30 min for pre and for 30min for post op ward rounds (1.25PA).The job plan may contain additional time for patient related admin under the titles A&G and ERS. It also contains protected time for MDT attendance. For clarity the Trust currently operates from the (LRI) Leicester Royal Infirmary Site and the (LGH), Leicester General H Site. The trust is in the process of reconfiguration to a Womens Hospital on LRI site and EMPCC on the LGH site. The post-holder will participate in hot week emergency gynaecology cover and Twilight shifts at the gynaecology assessment unit which is currently located at the LRI site. These shifts cover gynaecology. The post-holder will work collaboratively with the service and colleagues should there be a need to develop a different service model for emergency cover. On-call consultant is expected to respond to emergency gynaecology patient attendance to the gynaecology admission unit (GAU). Emergency (GAU) is currently at the LRI site. The consultant is expected to support obstetrics in the infrequent instances where gynaecological input is required. On call duties are non-resident from home between 2030h and 0800h unless there are unwell patients needing consultant attendance and are currently in band A. Theconsultants will need to live within 20 mins from the hospital or seek suitable overnight accommodation closer to the LRI. Daytime hot week sessions start at 0800h to 1700h, with Twilight cover from 1700h to 2030h. (Unless otherwise agreed) There is no Labour ward or obstetrics cover in the Job plan apart from the expectation of being able to provide gynaecological input if called upon by Consultant Obstetricians covering labour ward or elective obstetrics theatre. The post-holder should maintain the necessary skill to enable safe management of gynaecology emergencies at a tertiary level provider accepting complex acute gynaecology patients from the region. The UHL does not refer emergency gynaecology patients elsewhere as it is a large teaching hospital and has the necessary multidisciplinary input to provide support to neighbouring units if required The on-call rota will not exceed 1:10 coveringGynaecology onlyat LRI (emergency admissions - includes a resident twilight session for Acute Gynaecology) and occasionally supporting obstetric emergencies (eg for hysterectomy for obstetric emergencies). Emergency work has been recently assessed as averaging out to 1 programmed activity per week. Mentorship will be provided where necessary. Shared office space based on agile working basis and secretarial support is provided.Each Consultant is provided with a personal laptop computer with access to the internet to allow working for home for non-patient facing sessionsand NHS.net connection.

Clinical Advise on the care of people with dementia and their carers/families with complex care needs from peri diagnosis to post bereavement support. Provide specialist nursing assessment, using the Admiral Nurse Assessment Framework for carers/families affected by dementia during hospital admission. Support identification and management of co-morbidities and frailty for people living with dementia and their carers/families. Develop and support person-centred care plans for people with dementia including positive risk management (e.g. falls, delirium, depression, incontinence). Deliver relationship and family-centred approaches to care, which meet the needs of people with dementia, carers/families and staff. Provide a range of psychosocial interventions and emotional support to promote health and wellbeing for people living with dementia and their carers/families. Support people living with dementia, carers/families and staff to understand and respond to changes in behaviour and relationships as a result of dementia. Ensure that all legal requirements relating to mental capacity, safeguarding and mental health are considered and adhered to in relation to patient care. Act as an advocate for people with dementia and their carers/families to promote their rights and best interests. Participate in case conferences and best interest meetings where required. The overriding purpose is to support the provision of highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement. To provide specialist high-risk Obstetric anaesthesia outpatient clinic work: To participate in the Obstetric Consultant Anaesthetist non-resident on-call rota as well as evening and weekend resident rota. To support the Anaesthetic department in delivering high quality elective and emergency theatre sessions and provide flexibility to support the service. To work flexibly to support the workload and cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences. Flexibility within the role will be required as we reconfigure, working towards a single-site UHL maternity service. To work as part of the Pharmacy Team in providing an efficient, effective, and safe pharmaceutical service to patients and customers at ward level, managing ward and patient drug stocks ensuring adequate stock is available on the designated ward by topping up stock, processing extra requests and maintaining stock levels and to dispense (within the main and satellite pharmacies) prescriptions. In addition to ward activity you will contribute to the main dispensary service, dispensing medicines for In patients and discharge including cytotoxic medicines and controlled drugs all in an accurate and timely manner. This will include individualised advice on medication dosing, drug choice, administration, drug level monitoring and dose adjustment, the use of unlicensed medicines, the use of medicines outside the terms of their product licence and advice on the safety and storage of medications. 14. To support medicines optimisation within the area of Speciality, to include review of medicines-related errors and formulation of strategies to reduce these errors throughout the Trust, developing strategies to promote safe medicines use and supporting patient education. 15. To work with the wider Health Community and multidisciplinary team to develop and improve medicines-related aspects of patient care pathways to reduce admission and readmission to hospital in area of speciality 16. Assist in the production of Patient Group Directions (PGDs), with appropriate medical/nursing staff. Ensure PGDs are regularly reviewed, and provide PGD training for CMGs as required. 18. Actively pursue audit, research and development within the area of speciality and the Pharmacy Department. Publicise the results of such work through presentations and publications. 19. Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within scope of practice 20. Work with patients in order to support compliance with and adherence to prescribed treatments Provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication on medication regimens, side-effects and interactions 22. To undertake other such duties as required commensurate with the post including dispensary duties, evening and weekend working and on call-when required.
