Responsibilities

Primary

Reporting to the Manager or Head of Department, this role will manage the Institute’s Hospitality Relations matters, including:

· Co-manage incoming visits to NIE as part of building brand engagement and experience.

· Co-manage protocol-related matters for official visits and events.

· Work closely with the different departments to facilitate visit requests.

· Co-manage the Institute’s graduation ceremonies in various areas including guest management, production of graduation videos, receptions, etc.

· Co-manage the NIE Visitors Learning Centre.

· Co-manage the coordination and submission of various corporate reports to key internal and external stakeholders.

· Manage the entire process for corporate gifts, including selection, procurement, personalization, inventory management, and timely distribution to colleagues and visitors.

Secondary

Support the Institute and department’s initiatives and projects as required, including:

· Work with the social media team to ensure content is accurate, current and engaging.

· To assist all other NIE departments in branding and marketing strategies as and when required, such as managing print or motion production that supports the branding initiatives of the Institute.

· Assist in University events as and when necessary.

The Asian School of the Environment (ASE) at Nanyang Technological University is an interdisciplinary School that aims to be a world leader in environmental research focusing on environmental challenges in Asia. The research laboratory on Resilient and Inclusive cities at ASE addresses important challenges related to rapid urbanization and climate change in Asia-Pacific. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

We are seeking a Research Fellow to work on developing quantum algorithms for simulating quantum many body systems, focusing on topological phases in quantum spin systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop quantum algorithms to measure non-local order in quantum many body systems
• Construct shallow quantum circuits to implement the quantum algorithms using software development kit, e.g., Qiskit
• Perform error analysis of algorithm developed and optimize for qubit and gate noise
• Use the algorithm developed to simulate microscopic Hamiltonians for complex many body systems that cannot be efficiently simulated on classical computers, focusing on topological phases in quantum spin systems
• Implement on quantum hardware

Job Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Physics or related field
• Knowledge of quantum many body physics and quantum phase transitions
• Familiarity with quantum information theory
• Experience in developing quantum algorithms
• Proficiency in computational methods
