The key duties & responsibilities of the Marine Construction Manager are:

- To support the development of the Offshore Directorate Marine Governance from Opportunity Assessment, through to Execute (Construction and Commissioning) and, where necessary, lead construction teams in the refinement and execution of large capital projects (subsea cables) across the Transmission (Offshore Delivery) business ensuring the safe delivery to programme, cost and the necessary quality.

- Key to this position is not only the leadership qualities required for construction management, but also a strong level of resource management, agile working, contractor and subcontractor management, and the ability to provide the right level of oversight throughout the different stages of the projects, interacting and interfacing with the different disciplines.

- The Marine Construction Manager should provide leadership on site in terms of safety management and best practices, be experienced in accident/incident reporting, and the SSE Large Capital Projects Governance processes for all projects. It is also important that they lead the project teams in alignment with the SSE Safety Culture and core leadership values, and align with the CDM 2015 regulations.

- The Marine Construction Manager should also deliver in alignment to the SHE-Transmission RIIO-T2 Business Plan paying particular attention to the 5 clear goals.

The Marine Construction Manager will take responsibility for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Marine Governance throughout all the SHE-Transmission projects which contain an offshore element, and support the provision of critical construction personnel within each project, providing oversight and guidance on a functional level. Where necessary the Marine Construction Manager will be seconded to a particular project in support of the Construction activities, and to cover site Project Marine Construction Managers for holiday periods on offshore sites or installation vessels.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- A strong engineering and marine construction knowledge with extensive experience of personally being accountable for the construction delivery of design, pre-construction activities and offshore installation and landfall activities on large projects, including subsea cable installation (offshore wind), marine and offshore operations.

- Assist engineering teams with reviewing Constructability during the different stages of the project lifecycle, and have the ability to understand and oversee technical queries and impacts on the project.

- Work with other developers to identify and support marine construction interfaces.

- Reporting weekly to the Senior Offshore Delivery Manager on projects progress, risks, mitigations, costs and programme.

- Understands or can decipher; Industry legislation, Health and Safety Legislation and Company policies and procedures.

As part of the team, you will be responsible for the ongoing assurance that we are selecting competent installation contractors and maximizing our ability to engage with the best in the business, leading by example, in order to execute the projects safely and on budget.

About our Teams

HVDC Centre: We are looking for Electrical Power Engineering students to support the power system studies to de-risk the deployment of High Voltage Direct Current transmission technologies to deliver our net-zero targets. Over the next decade, the electricity transmission network that we operate will be dramatically reshaped by HVDC to integrate massive offshore wind power to achieve net-zero. Our team of power system experts are key to enabling and de-risking this journey. We are seeking students studying electrical power engineering. This team are based in Cumbernauld.

Project Engineering: A core technical department within SSEN Transmission. Our summer placement programme will provide you with experience of working at the centre of the transition to Net Zero. You will receive training to work on multimillion pound infrastructure projects covering innovations that will allow us to meet these technological challenges. We are looking for students studying electrical, mechanical or civil engineering. This team are based in Inverness, Perth or Glasgow.

HVDC Engineering: With new renewable energy projects in the North of Scotland needing to be connected to the National Grid and the electricity transported large distances from areas of Generation to areas of Demand, HVDC is the most efficient way to do this. Our HVDC Engineering team is central to these projects and we are at the cutting edge of new HVDC Voltage Source Converter technology, having recently commissioned the Shetland HVDC Link, which completed the Caithness-Moray-Shetland HVDC project, the first Multi-terminal HVDC VSC scheme in the world outside of China. With significant projects to work on in the North of Scotland, including work on our Eastern Green Link projects (planned HVDC links from the East coast of Scotland to Northeast England) as well as a number of embedded links within SSEN Transmissions own Network in the North of Scotland, we are aiming to connect up to 10GW of renewable energy in the North of Scotland to the National Grid. This team are based in Inverness, Glasgow, Aberdeen or Perth.

What is the Role?

As a Land graduate joining SSEN Transmission, you will follow a specialist pathway. Specialists will work with experts in their specialism, gaining exposure within a business area for the duration of their graduate programme with the aim of providing experience that will lead to a substantive post.

Working as part of our multi-disciplined Land team, we have the opportunity for a recent or upcoming graduate to join our graduate programme and gain the knowledge and experience needed to work towards an Assistant Land Manager position.

At SSEN Transmission, we are currently working on a number of high-profile transmission projects which are ensuring our transmission network is able to transmit clean renewable energy whilst being safe, efficient, and structurally sound, therefore providing sustainable and reliable energy to all.

SSEN Transmission are looking for Graduate Land Managers to help secure the land rights required to build and maintain overhead lines, underground cables and substations needed to meet the UK governments 2030 net zero targets. The work will essentially be that of a trainee land agent. A typical day will involve working within busy project teams, liaising with landowners and occupiers over proposed route and site selection for infrastructure schemes, assessing the impact of the proposed infrastructure over rural land and businesses, agreeing accommodation works, carrying out valuations and assessing compensation claims, and negotiating a range of rights over land and property such as wayleaves and options for servitudes or land purchase.

Stakeholder engagement is an important element of this role, and you will have an opportunity to learn from a wide array of stakeholders, both internal and external. You will develop and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders in relation to policy over land and property rights, access and management of land, securing and maintaining rights in land and dealing with matters of valuation and compensation.

The main stakeholder groups include SSEN Transmission project team members, landowners, tenants, their agents and relevant bodies such as local authorities, the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit, Forestry and Land Scotland, and local planning authorities.

You will be supported in your role with a placement plan, regular meetings with your line manager and networking with key business leaders through quarterly placement reviews. You will have the opportunity to enter into the RICS APC and CAAV training programmes, with dedicated support from other RICS and CAAV members within the SSE business.

What do I need to join?

You will have a minimum of a 2:2 bachelor's degree in Land Management, Real Estate Management, or Rural Surveying. This should be an RICS accredited degree in order to progress the RICS APC and/or gain professional membership into the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers.

As a Security Systems Service Engineer at SSE, youll be at the heart of maintaining and securing SSE infrastructure, ensuring the safety and operational continuity of SSE sites. Utilising your knowledge of security technology, youll travel across mainland Scotland and the islands, solving problems and keeping the system running smoothly. This role includes standby engineering duties across the Scottish region, so you'll need to be flexible and ready to support these arrangements. - Carrying out routine maintenance and responding to security system issues at SSE sites within your designated area, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

- Acting as first line support to the Operations and Engineering teams, developing proactive and corrective maintenance plans for a range of HV and LV systems.

Reporting to a Lead Project Manager, you will be responsible for the award and management throughout delivery. You will play a pivotal role in the successful execution, ensuring collaboration across the supply chain and managing project interfaces. The key duties and responsibilities of this role will be:

- Accountable to the Business for the safety, health and wellbeing of all personnel, and for environmental aspects of those Transmission projects activities being managed, including compliance with our framework behaviour charters and the CDM regulations.

- Planning, Monitoring, and Controlling projects or packages in line with Project Execution Plans to ensure that these are executed to cost, schedule and quality.

- Accountable for all commercial aspects of delivery including contract negotiation, contract awards, and NEC contract management, ensuring that any disputes are escalated as appropriate for resolution. Accountable to the business for the budget and delivery of the project / package within this.

- Ensuring the use of recognised project management processes, reporting, methods, techniques and tools, in particular the application of our Large Capital Projects (LCP) Governance Framework Manual.

- Provide leadership and demonstrate our core values. Lead teams, ensuring these are highly competent, well-motivated, and organised to deliver consistent excellence. Take line management and mentoring responsibility for your direct reports to ensure they perform to their required duties and are given all available opportunity to develop.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, wed love you to have:

- A proven track record of leading and safely delivering projects or programmes of work to cost, schedule and quality in the Transmission, Construction, Energy, or other regulated industry / the wider utilities sector.

- An engineering, construction, or project management qualification/degree or equivalent experience is required.

- Thorough engineering or construction knowledge and understanding, including the associated environmental and safety legislation e.g. the CDM 2015 regulations.

- Commercially astute, with sound knowledge and experience of negotiating, administering, and managing NEC Contracts, a recognised NEC qualification/registration would be a bonus.

- Experience of the governance, reporting, and management requirements for project and/or programmes of work in a regulated environment, with prior delivery budget responsibilities of over >£10m.

This role will be based at Kintore, near Aberdeen in Scotland, where we are constructing a new world leading 400kV GIS G^3 substation and Major assets replacement of the 132kV substation. The project is part of SSEN Transmissions and is a key to our plans to deliver a Network for Net Zero.

The key duties & responsibilities will be:

- Represent the SSEN Transmission business on-site and be the key and potentially sole site-based point of contact. Key deliverables include earthworks, civils construction, building construction, air-insulated switchgear installation, transformer installation, earthing, building supplies, gas-insulated switchgear and busbar installation and commissioning activities.

- Ensure the project is executed in accordance with relevant requirements, particularly relating to statutory and legal obligations, health and safety, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, quality & technical compliance, personnel and industrial relations.

- Work closely with the appointed contractor(s) and the operations team to ensure the works are delivered to the project programme, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

- Ensure site activities comply with planning consents and SHE legislation, and routine reports and KPIs are submitted to the Project Manager.

- Develop effective relationships with contractors, suppliers and the community, acting as a leader on site and champion for a positive safety culture.

What do I need?

- Detail the safest & most efficient work method for each site and make up work packs for the tree cutters with maps & other relevant documentation.

- Assist in the development and implementation of a 'best-in-class' team of utility arborists whilst undertaking a range of auditing activities focussing on safety, quality and service.

- Co-ordinate and lead key projects on site involving complex or challenging situations including storm response work.

- Work with the tree cutting management group to identify efficient ways of working whilst maintaining highest standards of safety and providing great customer service.

Your skills and experience:

- Previous experience in tree cutting, forestry or arboriculture; similar capacity experience is considered.

- Holding experience of working with power lines, and climbing would be highly advantageous.

- You should be comfortable working outdoors. You should already hold relevant NPTC certificate units for the use of chainsaws, and a qualification or certificates including NPTC UA would be beneficial, however not essential.
