Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Corporate Communications Department (CCD) is responsible for leading and developing the communications strategies and policies of Singapore Children’s Society and effectively advocating the charity’s cause.
Job Description
- Lead the department’s strategic planning and budgeting in support of the Organisation’s goals and service strategy
- Translate corporate communications strategy into actionable goals for the department’s performance
- Lead and manage the Corporate Communications team to ensure effective stakeholder communications and education, as well as maintain and protect our brand and reputation through the various communications platforms, collateral and initiatives
- In charge of managing the corporate website of the Society, including periodic enhancements of the website and content management
- Responsible for the department’s smooth day-to-day operations in managing public and media queries, external communications and reputation management
- Prepare quarterly reports and insights for the Standing Committee and management to track performance and identify trends, gaps and opportunities to position the organisation for success
- Provide public relations counsel to the management and key staff
- Manage the department’s talents and resources, including charting the professional development and performance management of talents within the department, mentoring the team to sharpen their skills
- Lead and mentor staff in our media management efforts including handling of media queries and interviews, as well as pitching stories to the media on the work of the Society
- Oversee and contribute towards content creation for social media by working closely with centres and departments, and supporting the development of a social media strategy to improve engagement rate and following
- Oversee Society’s marketing and communications efforts, particularly in outreach to the general public or identified groups of audience e.g. public education on parenting practices
- Oversee and contribute towards Society publications like annual report, Sunbeam newsletters, corporate collateral as well as Staff E-newsletter, including copywriting, editing and proofreading, producing quality publications that aid in stakeholder education and employee communication
- Oversee and support the work of protecting our brand and reputation, including crisis communications. This includes reviewing collateral and written materials of other departments and centres, to ensure our logo is correctly applied and copywriting is factual and of good quality to protect our reputation and work
- Responsible for data protection and ensuring our practices keep our stakeholders’ data protected
- Identify best practices and continually improve SOPs, promoting a culture of professional excellence
- Represent the organisation at relevant conferences, networking events, meetings etc as needed
Requirements
- Degree holder with a minimum of 8 years of related working experience; with at least 2 years of managerial experience and leading teams
- Preferably knowledgeable and familiar with the non-profit sector
- Excellent communication and writing skills to craft press releases, media FAQs, CEO messages, speeches and internal and external communications. Proficiency in Chinese would be an advantage to engage Chinese-speaking target audience
- Influential leader with the ability to work at both strategic and operational levels and build a high-performance team
- Media relations and Public Relations skills as well as crisis communications and management
- Track record of developing brand positioning and shaping messaging strategies leading to increased brand recognition
- Knowledge and understanding of social media marketing and other digital marketing tactics
- Self-starter, highly organised, meticulous, passionate team player with strong interpersonal skills
