About the Post

We are seeking a passionate, energetic and ambitious Senior Examinations Officer to join us as we continue to transform education across our town. Twynham School and The Grange School (TGS) have a federated staffing structure, with an ambitious and progressive vision for the education provided by our two schools. Twynham School is a very special place with an excellent reputation both locally and nationally. We are a heavily over-subscribed school where achievement is exceptionally high, students are well-behaved and eager to learn and relationships are very special. We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

• Play a lead role in the management of administrative support services to students and staff relating to the choice of subject, admission and examination of students by relevant external bodies.
• Manage all arrangements for all public examination entries e.g. GCSE / GCE / BTEC and equivalent and ensure that these are conducted in accordance with Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and examination board regulations.
• Ensure the necessary Exams related policies and procedures are created, updated and reviewed annually and shared across both Twynham and The Grange Schools.
• Manage all arrangements for all internal examinations.
• Organise the examination timetable and related resources and accommodation within the school.
• Recruit, train and direct the shared invigilator pool across both Twynham and The Grange schools.
• Manage the exams budget for Twynham School ensuring all spends are monitored and tracked against this.
• Line manage the Exams Administrative staff shared across both Twynham and The Grange schools.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

We are seeking a Senior Science Technician to play a key role in enhancing the quality of science education and encourage our students to realise their full potential. You will work with a highly professional team to provide efficient and effective technical support to students, using your knowledge to gain educational-based experience.

As Senior Science Technician you will be welcomed into an experienced team of professionals to:

• To liaise with science teaching staff, ensuring that they are supported in delivering high quality practical science lessons
• To be the line manager for the Science Technicians
• Support the continued development of the Science Technicians through performance management
• Prepare apparatus and equipment for practical lessons
• Ensure the maintenance and servicing of science machinery, equipment and apparatus
• Assist with creating inspiring teaching displays throughout the department
• To be responsible for the control and management of chemical stocks and equipment under the supervision of the Head of Science. This includes placing orders, receiving new stock, maintaining and updating inventories, keeping records of expenditure and undertaking routine stock checks
• To work with colleagues in the science department to create, develop and maintain health and safety records, including risk assessments, COSHH information, practical procedures and records of safety checks
• To participate in internal and external training as required

• be the point of contact for a range of outside agencies related to young people’s mental health and wellbeing e.g. CAMHs
• act as one of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (‘DDSL’) for the school, maintaining Level 3 Safeguarding Training and contributing to the safeguarding and welfare of the students
