SEMH Teaching Assistant Opportunity - Birmingham
We are proud to be working with a number of secondary schools across Birmingham that are dedicated to supporting vulnerable students with Autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
These schools cater to a wide range of needs, from Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) to more complex challenges such as ADHD, Autism, and disruptive behaviour.

By building strong, healthy relationships between staff and students, they consistently deliver outstanding results, creating positive outcomes for their pupils' futures.
Role:
- As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate with teachers and therapists to develop personalised support plans for students.
- You will implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour, de-escalate situations, and create a safe learning environment.
- Your role will involve providing 1:1 and group support, assisting in the development and delivery of lessons tailored to each student's individual needs, abilities, and learning styles.
- You will also support the physical, social, and mental welfare of students, adapting your approach to suit their requirements.
Requirments:
The schools are seeking dedicated and passionate SEMH Teaching Assistants for day-to-day, short-term, and long-term placements.

The ideal Teaching Assistant should have:
- Level 3 qualification and/or a minimum of 6 months' experience in an educational setting
- A calm, patient, and caring nature
- Strong communication skills
- A solid understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures
- Experience supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Effective behaviour management strategies
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with internal staff
