The appointee will be expected to work with the other Consultants in Acute Medicine, Specialist Consultants and the Elderly Medicine Physicians to deliver a comprehensive emergency service in Acute General and Elderly Medicine. This is a new post with the primary objective of covering outlier wards. The Acute Physicians rotate through the Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU) and the short stay wards. During the acute take they also cover, the Same-day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit. The postholder will be expected to cover other acute areas depending on outlying ward patients numbers. The Acute Team currently take part in the Acute rota on a 1 in 12 basis. This consists of overseeing the take and conducting a rolling review of newly admitted patients, along with supervising and supporting the training of junior medical staff. This rota is supported by a second consultant working 2pm-10pm and specialty in-reach from Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology and Frailty consultants. During the acute take consultant input is provided to SDEC as required. The posthoilder will not be expected to take part in regular Acute on call A rota but may be expected to support A rota consultant during working hours. There is opportunity to undertake an out-patient clinic to see follow-up patients in rotation with other interested colleagues. Th postholder will review results of patients discharged from his wards and take any action that is considered appropriate. The same applies to patients seen in SDEC and seen on the acute take. There may also be an optional specialist activity, if desired. The Luton and Dunstable University Hospital (L&D) has always been renowned for its friendly atmosphere and good working relationships. The Hospital has an excellent track record of financial and senior executive stability. The Trust has University Hospital status which provides an academic environment to the hospital. In addition to postgraduate training, we welcome medical students from the UCL Medical School throughout the year and by arrangement with the medical school provide a programme of clinical placements to support their education. We have an excellent reputation for junior staff training. Within the Centre of Multi-Professional Educational & Training (COMET) is the Medical Education Department, the library including an IT suite, and the Training & Development Department. The main aim of the Medical Education Department is to promote postgraduate and continuing medical education and training for all doctors and dentists. The Hospital actively promotes career development and progression for all staff. The Hospital has excellent access to the surrounding areas with easy access to central London and the rural Chilterns. The rural areas include many attractive villages and towns within easy reach of the Hospital including St Albans and Harpenden. Excellent schools are found nearby. There is also very good access to the Midlands and North by road using the M1 or A1, or by rail to one of the Lutons three stations. A direct link using the new Busway takes passengers from Luton Train station just 7 minutes to reach a stop that is within a short walking distance of the hospital. London Luton Airport is within fifteen minutes of the hospital. Applicants must be fully registered on the UK General Medical Councils Specialist Register and have MRCP. Specialist Registrars may apply if within 6 months of CCT. Candidates unable for personal reasons to work full-time are also invited to apply. Key Responsibilities

• Get to know our product lines and services in order to make the most of all customer interactions in line with our Jewson values

• Develop great relationships with new and existing customers (both face to face and over the phone), understanding their needs and providing proactive advice and solutions so that you can deliver the best experience possible

• Dealing with lapsed accounts by checking in with customers

• Generating sales with new and existing customers - proactively calling customers to discuss offers and quotes

• Use our in-house systems to process customer orders, organise delivery times, and keep customers updated throughout their journey

• Keep the branch looking clean and tidy, to make a great first impression on our customers

• Work with colleagues to suggest opportunities for improvement
