We have several vacancies for Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs) and are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team.

Candidates must have a minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science at Grade 4/C or above, be able to demonstrate they are committed to a career in Pharmacy and will ideally have some previous pharmacy experience. Evidence of essential qualifications must be provided prior to interview. Other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.

All posts are fixed term for 2 years with a full-time contract of 37.5 hours per week and require participation inthe late night, weekend and Bank Holiday rotas. In exceptional circumstances and reviewed on a case by case basis, a minimum of 30 hours per week may be considered.

Candidates will need to be available to start in February 2025.



Interview dates: 18th and 19th November 2024.

Throughout the two year post, PTPTs will gain practical experience and develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours across rotational opportunities in dispensary, pharmacy stores, community pharmacy and hospital wards. This is whilst undertaking a distance learning apprenticeship delivered by an accredited external education provider.



By the end of the two years PTPTs will;


• Have attained a Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Level 3 Apprenticeship
• Be eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
• Be able to apply for Pharmacy Technician roles nationally

A considerable amount of additional study will be required in the student’s own time. The successful candidate must have good time management skills both in and out of work due to the pressure of undertaking the qualification, and being in full time employment. A learning contract must be adhered to at all times.

Here at University Hospitals Dorset we have an exciting opportunity for an 18-month fixed term full-time training post in Echocardiography. This is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme (ETP) developed by the National School of Healthcare Science (NSHCS) and funded by Health Education England.

University Hospitals Dorset is based across two main sites where the echocardiography training would take place – Poole Hospital and the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Both sites have a dedicated and enthusiastic team of highly specialised Echocardiographers who are excited about the opportunity to recruit and train the suitable candidate for this role.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two additional trainee Advanced Critical Care Practitioners to join our existing ACCP programme within critical care .

The critical care team are seeking to develop the (ACCP) role with the training and appointment of eight ACCPs over four years. We look forward to welcoming ACCPs to our multidisciplinary team to help develop and shape our critical care service of the future.

The role involves extensive training according to the National competency framework for ACCP, and a training programme meticulously aligned to the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine Curriculum for ACCPs with the University of Plymouth to MSC level leading to FICM membership. Applicants undertaking the apprenticeship programme will be supernumerary for two years

Successful candidates will be band 7 in training and progress to Band 8a upon completion of the full MSc and membership with Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine.

As a Trainee Advanced Critical Care Practitioner, you will already be an experienced clinician ideally with extensive Critical Care knowledge, and a high level of clinical skill. Applicants are welcomed from those professional groups eligible to undertake non-medical prescribing under current statutory requirements.

Base Location: Bournemouth/Poole/Christchurch

The ACCPs will work closely with the current extended critical care team and alongside medical colleagues. They work autonomously or under Consultant supervision in specific circumstances to deliver patient care to Level 1-3 critically ill patients across the Trust. The role includes review of patients on acute wards and in the Emergency Department. The ACCP role is a vital component in the development of a flexible and sustainable workforce for Critical Care in the Emergency Care Hospital.


The current units are busy and progressive Critical Care Units with a clear patient-centred focus. In the next five years we will amalgamate the existing two critical care units (one on the Poole site and one on the Royal Bournemouth Site) into a new build critical care unit on the Royal Bournemouth site. This offers an exciting chance to develop the ACCP role within UHD and help develop services in the new unit. Over the next four years we plan to train 8 ACCPs to provide support in the new unit. There is an emphasis on developing health care practice through ownership, research/evidence-based practices, commitment and multidisciplinary involvement.

The successful candidate should possess a strong desire to develop themselves to deliver outstanding care within the four pillars of advanced clinical practice, helping to develop the advanced practice strategy within the Trust.
