We are looking for a Cover Supervisor / Behaviour Support Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to join Brakenhale School and become an integral member of the Cover team. We are an 11 to 18 school situated on the southern side of Bracknell town centre. We are a community school. Your role at our school will be to help our teachers whenever they are unable to teach, and to assist with the behaviour support team. Main responsibilities: Ensuring that students are supervised whilst undertaking prepared or learning activitiesEnsuring that students are managed and well-behavedDealing with any immediate problems/emergencies according to the school’s policies/proceduresReporting as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures, on the completion of tasks, behaviour for learning of students during the class and on any problems arisingTo attend and participate in relevant staff meetings and professional development as requestedUnderstand, comply with and contribute to the development of the school’s policies and support service procedures including the all safeguarding and child protection, equal opportunities, health and safety, confidentiality and data protectionAdapt the delivery of learning materials and support, considering the needs of students, to aid them in learning as effectively as possibleDevelop methods of promoting and reinforcing students’ self-esteem and independence within the classroom and school environmentHighlight the need for additional support in consultation with appropriate professional staffTogether with teaching staff be involved in monitoring of student progress and maintaining related recordsIn consultation with teaching staff, participate in the evaluation of the support programmes for students, contributing to reviews of children’s progress, including formal reviews of statementsProvide regular feedback and assessment on children’s progress to class teachers, form tutors and other professionals as requiredMore found in job pack.
You will need:GCSE Maths & English Grade C or equivalentGood literacy and numeracy skillsAppropriate experience of operating in a similar role To assess, manage and deliver pastoral and learning supportKnowledge of using IT systems and packages, in particular Microsoft OfficeAble to use relevant technology and specialist equipment effectivelyExperience of working with vulnerable young people Experience of working in a school’s environmentStrong verbal & written communication skills and an ability to use these to have a positive input on student learning in the classroom & in small groups/1-1Ability to maintain accurate recordsAbility to work within set guidelines and respond to unexpected circumstancesAbility to cope with exposure to emotionally demanding situationsAbility to work effectively as part of a team or as an individualAbility to prioritise workloads and have excellent time management and organisational skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to establish positive relationships with staff members at all levelsMore found in job pack.
