We are looking for a researcher to join our research team to investigate the benefits of plant bioactive compounds on animal productivity in a collaborative project with academic and industrial partners. The project is addressing the huge wastage of plant crops that occurs during their processing, through the development of innovative and sustainable valorisation strategies that convert agri-food waste streams into next-generation feed additives to increase animal health and productivity.

In particular, you will focus on the extraction and analysis of phytochemicals from differently processed raw materials and encapsulated formulations, using a range of methodologies, to evaluate their potential for application as feed ingredients.

You will have an undergraduate or masters degree in Food Science and Nutrition, Food Science and Technology, or a closely allied discipline, and a strong background in experimental plant bioactive research with good analytical skills, e.g. chromatography, spectroscopy and bioactivity screening methods. We are looking to recruit a 40 hour Regional Relief Trainee Pharmacy Assistant on a permanent contract to work between all of our branches in region 19 which covers 11 branches in Leeds, Burley in Wharfedale, Guiseley, Menston and Otley area.

Usual working hours can range between 09:00 to 17:00, or 09:00 to 18:00.

Due to the travel nature of the role it would be ideal if you held a full driving licence complete with access to your own vehicle.
