The Asian Languages and Cultures Academic Group (ALC) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore comprises the Chinese, Malay, and Tamil Divisions. ALC’s vision is to work towards the mission of NIE and establish ALC as a Centre of Excellence for Chinese, Malay and Tamil Languages, Literature, Culture and Education. Requirements

Successful candidates must have:

• A doctoral degree in Linguistics (Tamil Language).

• Extensive experience in teaching linguistic content knowledge, spoken Tamil, written Tamil (especially Tamil alphabet), phonology, grammar, and lexicon.

• An interest in the related fields of bilingualism, second language acquisition, and/or teaching Tamil as a mother tongue or second language will be an advantage.

• Standard native or near-native competence in oral and written Tamil and English.

• Sufficient knowledge of the Singapore curriculum and the Singapore educational system.

• Sufficient knowledge of the Global Tamil Curriculum and the education system for international schools.

Responsibilities
