Clinical duties will include participation in an on call rota (either obstetrics, ICU or theatre) on a 1:8 resident basis (maximum shift duration of 12.5hrs).



The majority of normal working days will be dedicated to leadership and management activities (tailored to the individual).



Non-Clinical

Post holders may take on various projects whilst in the post but are expected to contribute to both the operational and strategic management of both the anaesthetic department as well as the “Working with Others” branch of the One NHS Finance programme. This may involve liaison with other specialities/professional groups. Projects will be determined by the fellow's interests and the department's needs. It is anticipated that work produced from these will be of a standard to present nationally and could include:

This post is designed to develop the career of clinicians with an interest in leadership and management. Applicants will gain a deeper understanding of leadership and management theory and it’s application to everyday situations within the NHS. Fellows will also acquire an understanding of corporate governance within a large NHS Trust through participation in meetings, including working with the NHS England One NHS Finance programme.

The fellow will be able to attend meetings, understand the decision-making process and develop projects within their own sphere of interest. It is expected that the successful completion of this fellowship will provide the applicant with experiences that will aid in future job applications.

You will be responsible for building a culture of excellence within your team by giving clear guidance and making sure colleagues know how important their role is in delivering our business strategy. Working Hours/ Shift Patterns: You'll work 37.5 hours a week on a rotating shift pattern between 08:00-19:00 Monday to Friday, 9:00 - 17:00 Saturday, and 09:00-13:00 Sunday. You will have to work one full weekend and one Saturday in every 5. If you work a weekend shift, you'll get time off in lieu. Training: The first 4 weeks will consist of full time in the office training, once you have completed your training you will move to hybrid working, this will consist of at least one day a week in the office with your team and for any other meetings or events as required. Location: Our fantastic Leicester office which is in the city centre and only a short walk from Leicester train station. Salary: A fulltime role of 37.5 hours per week pays £31,000. Knowledge & Experience: 

• A passion for people development, leadership, and coaching

• Adept at responding to customer enquiries with a focus on first-time resolution

• Able to prioritise own workload and that of others to ensure deadlines and performance expectations are met

• Has good self-awareness and understanding of others, able to communicate and work with a range of stakeholders and colleagues 

• Can interpret and use MI and data for team and individual performance to identify opportunities for improvement

• The ability to support a team when they are working remotely

• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office
