- Manage permanent works design subcontract packages to achieve delivery of cost-effective and compliant Contractor's design within agreed timescales and fee budgets.

About the Role of Bid Manager

We are looking to expand our Work Winning team with a skilled and enthusiastic Bid Manager to be based in our Head Office in Swindon, Wiltshire or our London Paddington Office.

You will drive and energise the bid team to achieve a successful outcome for each allocated tender, following designated processes and best practice in place within the organisation.

You will ensure that a coherent bid strategy in developed, working in conjunction with the Business Development Manager and Sector Director and continually evaluate winning strategy and direct team and resources to focus on activities which will enhance our chance of bid success.

The role will require you to agree bid budgets and monitor the expenditure with our Head of Management.

You will also be responsible for arranging and coordinating tender and post-tender meetings and interviews with the Client and Employers Agent.

Responsibilities for the Bid Manager

• Continually evaluate winning strategy and direct team and resources to focus on activities which will enhance chance of bid success.
• Oversee and be involved with tender commercial strategy.
• Arrange all necessary internal meetings - Kick off / Settlement and others identified in work winning process. (use MS Outlook)
• Agree Bid Budget and monitor expenditure with Head of Management
• Manage tender programme.
• Ensure Company & Group governance and procedures are adhered to.
• Ensures production of CRC documentation for issue to Head of Bid Management.
• Produce actions and appoint individuals to complete relevant items arising from the meetings / minutes. Drive actions to completion.
• Undertake corporate approval process in conjunction with Work Winning Director.
• Communication link to Client / Employers Agent + when we speak and don't speak with Third Parties.
• Keep senior management informed of development on tender and gain acceptance of key decision points.
• Issue Ops / Commercial / Temp Works / Specialist third party briefs Identify Estimator and Planner requirements where necessary.
• Communication management and interface with joint venture partners and key supply chain.
• Oversee designers Brief in conjunction with Technical Services.
• Manage designers where necessary to achieve optimum solutions.
• Involvement in appointment of specialist third parties.
• Participate in review of suppliers to receive tender enquiries.
• Manage Risk / Opportunity including commercial and ensure output to ARM risk software.
• Work with commercial manager to understand route map to deliver margin set within business plan.
• Decide what queries we raise (or do not raise) in line with the tender strategy.
• Arrange and co-ordinate tender and post-tender meetings / interviews with the Client / Employers Agent.
• Ensure that the correct resources for the Quality Submission are in place and that timescales are met. (Deliverables tracker in place prior to kick off).
• Manage / take part in the review of the Quality Submission.
• Tender feedback and dissemination once the result is known.
• Handover to the project delivery team for successful tenders.
• Use and follow formal meeting agendas and save presentations as power-point slides onto corporate database..

Requirements for Bid Manager

• Sound knowledge of the UK construction market and knowledge of relevant legislation and Civil Engineering.
• Previous experience in a pre-construction position involved in the Bid stage.
• You must have commercial awareness of different forms of contract and strong presentation and client communication skills.
• A sound knowledge of the governance and procedural requirements for work winning are also essential for this role.

Thames Water are seeking a Senior Delivery Manager to play a key role in our strategic initiative to reduce customer complaints and enhance our service delivery. Working closely with the Head of Complaints Transformation, you will be instrumental in creating and executing a detailed plan to meet our complaints reduction targets for 2026 and 2027.

What you will be doing as the Senior Delivery Manager
You’ll drive the assurance and performance management of all transformation programs impacting our Customer Service organization. By developing a best-practice governance framework and utilizing data-driven insights, you’ll ensure alignment with our strategic goals and proactively address any emerging risks by providing executive-level recommendations. You’ll also champion a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging lean methodologies to support long-term positive change.

Duties to include but not limited to:

Governance, Risk & Programme Reporting:

- Support the Head of Complaints Transformation with maintaining the integrated transformation plan across Customer Service, identifying, and managing risks, and setting governance standards
- Communicate status of transformation and turnaround activities with business stakeholders
- Collaborate with various teams to ensure alignment and adherence to processes
- Maintain integrated program plans, RAID logs, and dependency tracking
- Promote process alignment and efficiency
- Facilitate related meetings and benefit tracking

Assurance:

- Tracks performance against key metrics, aggregates risks and issues and facilitates resolution.
- Ensures programme and projects assurance reviews (PIRs) are completed and identifies action plans for improving performance.
- Supports on establishing and reporting on risk management for Retail Digital Programmes
- Constantly reassesses the ‘value for money’ solution
- Ensures an acceptable solution is being developed
- Makes sure the project remains viable for Thames Water
- The scope of the programme / project is not creeping upwards un-noticed
- Any legislative, regulatory or contractual constraints are being observed
- Adheres to quality assurance standards
- Continuous assurance throughout the life of the programme; point reviews or periodic reviews; focused reviews that concentrate on a particular aspect of a programme

Continuous Improvement / Operational Excellence:

- Supports on building a coaching network within the CS organisation
- Share best practices to improve team efficiency.

Hours: Monday to Friday 36 hours per week
