Your new role
As Global Technical and Quality Director you will lead an international team in the delivery of key strategies to deliver business objectives, meeting and exceeding customer expectations in food, and non-food, categories. You will continue the development of appropriate KPIs to understand performance in all relevant areas, and drive improvements through technical product innovation, compliance, and due diligence. You will lead and support all R&D projects, bringing market disrupting products and technologies into NPD pipeline, while also enhancing sustainability initiatives.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be proven in a similar leadership position, with strategic responsibilities for technical innovation, manufacturing compliance, human rights due diligence, and sustainability. You will be highly commercially aware with the ability to support commercial business objectives and performance, within an entrepreneurial and fast-moving business. Experience of FMCG products (ideally both food, and non-food), and working with high-street retailers and international suppliers (ideally including Asia) is a distinct advantage. You will be ambitious for yourself and for your company, and enjoy a fast-changing working environment where pace and urgency drive successful outcomes. You will have very strong people skills, and be able to influence at all levels. You will enjoy developing high-performing individuals and teams, harnessing people's skills and supporting their ongoing development.

We are seeking to appoint a new Group Director of Operations to our Women’s, Children, Cancer and Specialist Support Services (WCCSS). The Care Group is one of three Care Groups in the Trust, covering all aspects of emergency and planned care across a number of services including diagnostics, women’s & children’s services and cancer.

University Hospitals Dorset is one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers in the NHS. It was created in October 2020 by bringing together two Trusts: Poole Hospital and Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospital.

The new Trust has a turnover of approximately £720m and employs over 9,000 members of staff.

Base Location: Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospital

The Group Director of Operations is a key leadership role with the Trust, responsible for the safe and effective delivery of services. The successful applicant will work as part of a triumvirate to deliver the strategic ambitions of the Trust.

The total Care Group budget to manage is £280 million and a staff group of circa 2800.

The post holder will be accountable for the performance of their Care Group alongside the Group Director of Nursing and Group Medical Director in delivering national and local health care priorities, ensuring clinical quality, delivery of all constitutional standards, patient safety, finance and improving patient and staff experience.

The role purpose is to provide high quality administration and efficient support as the EA to the Chief Executive and Chair. The EA manages the Chief Executives and Chairs diaries which takes up a significant part of the workload. Alignment of diaries across large numbers of busy executives and clinical leads is a challenging part of the role. In addition to internal liaison, the EA communicates with stakeholder organisations on a regular basis including the CQC, local MPs, NHS Dorset, NHS England, other NHS Trusts, BPC and Dorset Councils, and other organisations outside of Dorset. Due to changing priorities both locally and nationally, diaries require constant revision. It is important that the post-holder is able to manage this key element of the role. The EA acts as the first point of contact, including managing all incoming mail and email, telephone calls and messages. This will include answering calls from the public and patients who are seeking to speak to the Chief Executive and Chair, including complainants. The post holder will need to develop a close working relationship with the CEO and Chair, agreeing processes and workload management. The role is line managed by the Business Manager to the Chief Executive and Chair who offers professional and day-to-day support and covers the post during periods of annual leave. The EA also is responsible for supporting the monthly Trust Management Group producing minutes and managing the associated action tracker. We are currently looking to recruit an exceptional, professional and highly motivated Deputy Chief Finance Officer to provide leadership and support to the Chief Finance Officer and wider Finance team. In conjunction with the Chief Finance Officer, the Deputy Chief Finance Officer is responsible for providing a fully comprehensive financial management service to the organisation to develop and implement the Trust’s overall financial and commercial strategies.

You will support the CFO to develop and deliver the finance strategy, which supports delivery of the overall Trust strategy. This includes ensuring that resources are effectively deployed to provide the best possible care and value for money for our patients.

The role will provide leadership to the finance function including a focus on leadership and culture, talent and skills development, and recruitment and retention.

You will also have responsibility for reporting the financial position to Committees of the Trust Board, including being a standing member of the Finance and Performance Committee deputise for the CFO at Trust Board, Council of Governor and other meetings as necessary.
