• Functions as a professional and technical advisor to clinical staff, other allied healthcare professionals, program directors and managers throughout the medical center/facility.
• Oversight over HR staffing, employee relations and labor relations in Food Service Operations.
• Exercises a full range of supervisory and personnel management authorities and responsibilities in planning, directing, and assessing work of subordinate staff.
• Establishes a training plan for the food operations section.
• Develops and leads food operations.
• Establishes strategic goals and ensures priorities align with the strategic plan of the NFS department, VISN and national programs.
• Leads the continuous quality improvement effort in Food Service Operations.
• Identify and prioritizes problems, sets long and short-term goals, develop action plans and analyze data to evaluate progress to improve outcomes.
• Develop and update policies and procedures and establish and oversee a system for regulatory compliance. Coordinate food service operation policies and procedures with clinical nutrition management, nursing and other services, as applicable.
• Manage the budget and other resources, anticipating future trends and inflation, new service opportunities, recommendations for growth, efficiencies and strategic efforts are factored into resource requests and brought to the Chief.
• Direct staff in management of contracts, subsistence, supply purchasing for NFS and submits reports to the NFS Chief.
• Solicits support and/or negotiates with facility managers to influence decisions to support food operations section success.
• Works closely with the Supervisory Dietitians to support the department, cover the work within NFS and execute the activities of the department.

• Assist journeyman meatcutters by performing the simpler tasks when processing beef, pork, veal, and lamb into retail and ready to eat cuts for sale to patrons.
• Tray, wrap, weigh, and price cuts using automatic or manual wrapping machines.
• Ensure correct prices by referencing price lists.
• Replenish stock in display cases and rotates product to ensure wholesomeness.
• Use, clean, maintain, and sharpen a variety of hand tools and power equipment.
• Clean and sanitize work area to maintain required standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to provide appropriate, specialized developmental care, and instruction for children in the Youth Programs (YP). In addition, performs basic oversight and supervision for designated classrooms for ages 6 years through 18 years. The incumbent will assist with the Kindergarten program. Incumbent may be designated as building supervisor as needed, whenever the Youth Programs (YP) Director or assistant Youth Programs Director is not physically in the facility.

Duties:

• Designs, implements, and reviews activity plans.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

• Boiler Operation and Maintenance
  • Incumbent is responsible for operation and maintenance of gas-fired boilers using No. 2 oil as a standby energy source and all associated equipment such as Weishaupt burners with a forced draft blowers and variable frequency drives, electric exhaust and fresh air intake blowers/dampers with variable frequency drives, air handling unit with variable frequency drive for combustion air, electronic combustion control systems, centrifugal feed water pumps with variable frequency drives, two-element drum level regulators, a de-aerating/condensate storage tank, reverse osmosis system with a 500 gallon storage tank, Ecolab direct chemical feed system, regulatory valves, governors, low water cut-outs, flow meters, gas analyzers, two 10,000 gal. per hour capacity sodium zeolite systems and an air compressor with dryer.
• Preventive Maintenance & Repairs on Boilers and Auxiliary Equipment
  • Incumbent is responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs on all boilers to include cleaning and touch up painting, making regular tests of boiler water samples, adding chemicals and blowing down boilers as necessary to maintain recommended boiler water chemical composition.
• Safety Device Testing
  • Perform safety device testing as indicated in directives, manuals, standard operating procedures, ect. and maintain records of production and other data pertinent to reports as required.
