This post is primarily clinically based and will allow the candidate to achieve proficiency in many core aspects of Ear, Nose and Throat surgery. Candidates should have >2 years experience of practicing medicine. This post will enable the individual build their portfolio towards a competitive advantage with Core Surgical, ST3 applications or alternative routes to progression to higher surgical training / experience.



Substantial time is allocated for the development of clinical research in digital health technologies. This includes the application of technologies such as mixed reality, extended reality, Artificial Intelligence, etc in education, training and clinical care. The candidate will have a dedicated educational supervisor for the placement with specific goals and a career development plan. The research aspects of the job benefits from the support of the CUH digital health and simulation centre.

The post holder will be expected to take part in a full-shift rolling rota that provides a balanced combination of consultant supervised, firm based teaching with clinical work covering the ward, referrals from A&E and ENT emergency clinics. You will rotate through sub-specialty firms in Head and Neck, Rhinology, Paediatric ENT and Otology, Cochlear Implantation and Skull Base surgery. You are also required to attend the department’s medical audit, morbidity and mortality meetings and the in-house continuing medical education programme. The individual will be expected to complete a robust research project in digital health including publication in a peer review journal. This will be among other research goals. There will be opportunities to deliver teaching as part of a faculty on digital technology.

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Research Fellow Core (ST1-2) / Higher (ST3-5/ST6+) in Respiratory Clinical Trials based in Clinical Pharmacology.

We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow who will be embedded in a multi-disciplinary clinical research unit with strong links with the University of Cambridge, working in clinical trials, primarily in Respiratory Medicine.

The Clinical Research Fellow will be supervised by Dr Marie Fisk, COPD Researcher and Professor Ian Wilkinson, Head of the Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a full-time post is available from July/August 2024 for up to three years and will involve working within the departments of Clinical Pharmacology and Respiratory Medicine, but a minimum term of 12 months may be considered by arrangement.

In order to be considered applicants must have:
• Degree in Medicine (MBBS or equivalent).
• MRCP or equivalent qualification.
• Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application.

Applicants who have completed Foundation training and are either planning to apply for, or already have Core Medical or Specialist training experience (or equivalent) with interest in Respiratory Medicine, General Medicine, or Clinical Pharmacology or Cardiovascular Medicine and research would be well suited to this post.

Applications are invited for a Clinical Research Fellow Higher (ST3-5) in Cancer Trials with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust available from 18 July 2024 for 12 months.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Physician wanting to develop their career and gain experience as a Clinical Researcher within the Cancer Directorate at CUH.

This post may be suitable for Trainees, either before or after specialist Oncology training (or equivalent) and appropriate training, according to the level of the appointee’s experience, will be offered, and monitored by a named Senior Supervisor. A knowledge of clinical trial delivery and Good Clinical Practice (GCP), relating to trials would be an advantage.

The successful applicant will work in close collaboration with Senior Investigators and research staff in the day-to-day care and management of patients on trials, receiving experimental treatment both in early and late phase settings.

This post will offer the opportunity for training in all aspects of trial delivery from conception through to completion. The appointee will attend research-orientated outpatient clinics, participating in multidisciplinary teams for the management of solid and haematological cancers. Direct participation in research and audit projects is strongly encouraged.

The successful candidate will have some experience in Oncology, combined with a desire to enhance their knowledge and skills in relation to the conduct of clinical trials in patients with cancer.
