Falkirk Council’s Inclusion and Wellbeing service is seeking to recruit experienced Support for Learning Assistants who are highly skilled practitioners and committed to delivering the very best experiences for our children and young people.

The key policy document for Falkirk Schools is Learning to Achieve. This was co-created by head teachers, teachers, early year’s practitioners, support staff, parents/carers, pupils and other partners.

It sets out clearly our aims for all learners.

Successful applicants will:

• hold an appropriate qualification.
• have significant experience in supporting children and young people who a range of Social, Emotional and Behavioural needs.
• have experience in supporting pupils and young people diagnosed with ASD.
• be willing to work across the service to support both primary and secondary aged pupils.
• be already trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Techniques or be willing to undertake the training.

You will work 30 hours per week on a term time basis.

Falkirk Children’s Services is seeking to employ a Support for Learning Assistant at Langlees ELC Centre to provide support for learning resource aimed at delivering continuity for children and allowing for further service improvement.

You will undertake a range of support activities including general supervision of children to ensure their safety and well-being. You may be required to provide more intensive support for children with additional support needs to ensure that individual plans are carried out regularly and efficiently. The postholder will be required to undertake a range of whole school support activities with regard to the general supervision, safety, care and wellbeing of pupils and particularly within the dining room, outside areas, lavatories and on education excursions as required.

Within the school, the postholder will seek overall direction and will carry out tasks determined and assigned by the designated teacher. Learning Skills and Resource Assistant
£23,881 - £25,518
1 FTE / 35 Hours
Based at Falkirk Campus
Fixed Term to June 2024

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of professionals who assist and support learners and staff with information enquiries, study skills support and access to learning resources including book and non-book resources, ICT, and flexible learning materials. A key role will be to promote the development of independent learning and information skills amongst college students.  

The college has 3 large and busy Learning Resource Centres on its campuses at Falkirk, Stirling and Alloa, each capable of accommodating approximately 60-120 users at any one time. Staff may be required to work across all campuses.

You will ideally have experience of working in an LRC as well as experience working one-to-one, helping those who need additional support to develop the skills they need to achieve. You will be customer focused with good written and verbal communication skills, and will be able to work flexibly without supervision and with an organised approach to your work. You should have familiarity with ICT, particularly Microsoft Office; knowledge of assistive technologies would be helpful.

You should have an HNC or equivalent in a subject related area such as administration; library; information; community support delivery; communications; resource management or other related subjects. The ICDL qualification is also desirable.
