Role summary:

The post holder will be a Pharmacy Technician (NVQ / BTEC level 3 or equivalent) who is currently registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). This is a locum role (36 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

DENTAL HYGIENIST :

- OVERALL JOB DESCRIPTION – SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

1. To provide the Dental Officers with clinical and administrative support to enable him/her to achieve his/her primary purpose, including the provision of dental hygiene treatment, oral hygiene instruction and education and any other appropriate clinical procedure as prescribed by a Dental Officer working towards improving and maintaining the oral health of entitled personnel.
2. To undertake all activities described in the GDC Scope of Practice. Carrying out work under the direction of a registered dentist who has examined the patient and indicated in writing the course of treatment to be provided. This is in accordance with the Dental Auxiliary Regulations 1986, as amended by the Dental Auxiliaries (amended) Regulations 1991.
3. To ensure that not less than 6.5 hours per day in 2 sessions are set aside for appointed patients.
4. To comply with all Health and Safety Policy directives and legislation.
5. To maintain own appointment book when a receptionist is not available and liaise between Dental Officer and patients concerning appointments.
6. To carry out preventive cross infection procedures including sterilisation of instruments and materials in compliance with current legislation (HTM 01-05) and best practice as described in DPHC (Dental) SOPs Chapter 17.
7. To manage his/her surgery to a high standard at all times with respect to cleanliness, equipment maintenance (including end-of-day), documentation and security.
8. To accurately record treatment on the integrated Electronic Health Records (either) such as the Defence Medical Information Capability Programme (DMICP).
9. To ensure that all periodontal patients and other risk categories that are entered on the IEHR are recalled for reviews and annual inspection appointments.
10. To collect and promptly file FMed 271s of his/her concern, reporting any appointment delays or FTAs to the Practice Manager, receptionist and/or patient as appropriate.
11. To carry out interim treatments (between dental examinations by the dentist), provided that the treatment intervals have been specified in the written prescription. (This is a GDC ruling and applies to DHs working in general practice, community or hospital service.)

To work with children and young people who may present mental health difficulties Co-ordination and implementation of evidence-based interventions in a timely manner, in collaboration with the other clinicians across the CAMHS Pathways. To support the delivery of evidence-based group programmes for children and young people with mental health issues from a portfolio of available CAMHS training Take a lead in representing CAMHS in multi-agency meetings such as EHAT, SEND meetings or child protection meetings to co-ordinate and have oversight of mental health element of a multi-agency plan around a child. To function as a member of the CAMHS Service taking appropriate responsibility for the implementation of decisions made by the pathway. Ensure planned interventions are implemented effectively and evaluated using Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROMS) Maintain standards of care to highest level within available resources. To actively participate in line management with senior and junior members of staff. To liaise effectively with the other CAMHS Pathways To develop and maintain relationships with providers statutory and non-statutory. To maintain confidentiality in respect of the young people at all times. Communicate clearly with children and young people, their families and all other health professional groups about their health problems. Actively participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives, e.g. clinical audit, essence of care or clinical policy development. Ensure that children and young people are encouraged to play a part in decision making about the help they need and how they can access specific interventions. This is to promote person-centered planning. Provide Clinical Assessment and supervision for students.

Be responsible for the safe and effective transfer of patients across care settings including medicines reconciliation on admission and authorise discharge summaries on discharge Provide clinical pharmacist support and advice to consultants, junior doctors, nurses, members of the MDT, patients and their carers by completion of medicines reconciliation, comprehensive drug histories, pharmacist led medication reviews, monitoring and advising on strategies to optimise response to therapies Be supported in this training post to achieve a Clinical Diploma and Independent Prescriber qualification or similar qualification.
