Job Summary

The Public Relations Officer administers the public relations program of a large agency and performs a variety of public information duties.  Work of this class may involve supervising office support personnel. Employee will work a conventional workweek.  Work is performed in an office where working conditions are normal.  Work requires minimal physical exertion.

Position

The work of this class is distinguished from that of Public Information Officer II in that it involves the exercise of independent judgement in administering the public relations program of a large agency.

Essential Job Duties

• Coordinates the public relations program of a large agency; meets with bureau heads and program supervisors to gather information and determine promotional needs of the department
• Acts as liaison between a City agency and the local news media (radio, television and newspapers), other government agencies and community organizations to promote agency activities and services, and exchange information and counteract unfavorable publicity.
• Plans, organizes and monitors special events and ceremonies such as dedications, awards and groundbreakings.
• Photographs or videotapes events, facilities or operations for use in promotional materials.
• Scripts and compiles slide shows, short films and exhibits.
• Designs, writes and oversees the printing of pamphlets, brochures and flyers publicizing events and activities.
• May supervise office support personnel or assign and review the work of subordinate Public Information Officers.
• Answers requests for general information; makes public appearances and speaks before community and special interest groups.
• Researches and compiles background material; may compose speeches for Mayor and agency staff members.
• Performs related work as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of the principles and techniques of public information and relations.
• Knowledge of the preparation of material for release to the media (press, radio and television).
• Knowledge of graphic arts, materials and applications.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with media, civic, social and community organizations, government agencies and the general public.
• Ability to plan and organize a promotional campaign.

    Minimum Education and Requirements

            Requirements - A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years in performing public information or public relations work.

            Equivalencies - Equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience with Email Security Engineering
• Knowledge of network protocols supporting email, including SMTP or DNS

The Director, Product Security – Life Sciences serves as the leader responsible for BD’s product security posture within the Life Sciences Business Units – Integrated Diagnostic Solutions & BD Biosciences. Reporting to the VP, R&D, Product Security, this individual will help the PSO provide guidance to successfully deliver best-in-class secure products, consistent with global regulatory requirements over the lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with all levels and geographies within BD Life Sciences organization, including senior executives, to advance the product security strategy and objectives within the portfolio.

• Ensure adoption of product security framework activities, consistent with applicable global regulations and laws
• Champion strategic initiatives such as leveraging innovative product security processes & technologies or end of support for legacy platforms - in partnership with other cross functional teams
• Engaging BD leadership, customers, federal and international agencies when issues occur as well as speaking in public forums
• Serve as internal security consultant to the organization. Articulate high-level risks and mitigation plans to Senior Management
• Contribute to the strategy and provide guidance on product security matters including architectures, threat models, risk assessments, integration, disaster recovery and maturity assessment
• Oversee delivery of all required product security quality and regulatory documentation associated with product launches in Life Sciences.
• Provide leadership and guidance to BU Product Security Officers in the Life Sciences Segment on critical Product Security issues, tactical alignment, and strategic initiatives
• Provide expertise and management of BU implementation and remediation programs, new product development security solutions, process development, and capability maturity
• Responsible for aligning the Life Sciences Segment around common benchmarks and goals for BD’s enterprise - wide Product Security posture, assessing progress towards these goals while driving improvement
• Accountable for developing BU Product Security Officers leadership skills and influencing BU cross- functional leadership teams to communicate and prepare their organizations for changes in worldwide regulations and standards for Product Security in Medical Devices
• Leadership and development of BU Product Security Officer’s skills in program management, cross functional collaboration, technical and business acumen with their BU leadership teams

Qualifications:

• Minimum of ten (10) years professional business experience, three (3) years leading teams and people, and three (3) years in a Product Security and/or Application Development Security function in a regulated environment
• Experience with connected products, software development lifecycle, security automation, risk mitigation strategies, incident response, and supply chain security are preferred
• Strong understanding of a wide variety of cybersecurity attacks, threats, threat analysis, ethical hacking and system auditing coupled with experience with incident management
• Experience navigating and executing product cybersecurity requirements with 510(k) and PMA- regulated products
• Able to align and connect business strategies with technology solutions that will mitigate risk. Excellent presentation and communication skills including engaging with and presenting to senior leadership team. Strong collaboration skills to include conflict resolution
• Ability to communicate complex technical challenges in a non-technical and simplified manner to business audience

Education:

• Undergraduate degree in cybersecurity, computer science, software engineering or/and technical engineering or scientific field is required, advanced business or technical degree preferred
• Certifications such as CCNA, CCIE, CISSP, CISM, GIAC, MCSE, CCSP or equivalent, CEH are preferred

Position Description: 

Identifies and responds to incidents regarding the welfare, safety and/or security of students, personnel, and visitors at the Excel Center campus; maintains a safe environment at school site by enforcing policies and regulations; communicates information and responds to inquiries regarding campus safety, and provides emergency care to students and other individuals. Performs additional safety and security functions as needed in additional company locations.

• Assists community law enforcement personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities within the school environment.

Job Overview

The Special Police Officer provides services to protect the life, well-being, and property of students, faculty, staff, visitors, dignitaries, and other through policing, patrol, event security, investigation, and emergency response as outlined in general orders and special orders, as directed by superior officers.

They support the university community by providing information and assistance, and is directly responsible to the patrol sergeant for fulfilling duties assigned performing patrol functions and specialized assignments according to all special and general orders in protection of life and property of Georgetown University. Interacting routinely with students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and neighbors, the Special Police Officer has additional duties that include but are not limited to:

• Provides police and security services while protecting life and property, performing police patrol duties while carrying batons and pepper spray.
• Patrols on foot, in golf carts, and/or motor vehicles, responding to emergencies and enforcing all United States, District of Columbia laws and University rules and regulations.
• Supports the university community by establishing and maintaining an environment in which all community members can go safely about their varied activities in the best interest of the university.
• Accurately and thoroughly prepares incident reports and safeguards information and evidence to ensure successful follow up and resolution.
• Assists in the preliminary investigations of incidents as necessary, supporting and providing assistance to persons who have been victims of crime and attending court whenever necessary, regardless of other commitments.

Key Role:

Function as a System Certification Specialist and Security Control Assessor as part of a team in the performance of Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities ensuring National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) management, operation, technical, and privacy security control implementation compliance for large, complex DoD information systems. • Continually analyzes data to describe, predict, and improve performance while leading a team of Senior Inspectors in the observation and documentation of unique and isolated issues of property maintenance and code enforcement.

About Our Job

The Security Operations Technician performs para-professional level operations center work by answering and directing, urgent and exigent calls via telephone, text and other means, daily, and in a mission essential function, as assigned.

The Technician continuously receives phone calls and makes outgoing calls in support of 16 city owned facilities, logging post checks and urgent/exigent/emergency activity logs.  Directly supports as a first line of safety, all city agencies.

The SOC technician will also by their education formally and while on the job, decide to escalate issues for a specific response by security teams, law enforcement or other first responders.  You will also take and disseminate after hours calls or incidents that are received and are supporting

Performs a high volume of telephone work, receiving calls for and calls to city agencies including first responders and internal city functions having mission critical posture, asking for call backs, contacting additional resources to help respond to and resolve urgent and emergency incidents. 

Validates facility and panic/duress alarms received using monitoring tools in city provided access control software and facilitating a city response in support of safety.

Operates multi-line telephone systems, computer systems, and radio systems to complete assigned duties.

Actively monitors 100+ CCTV assets continuously and performs numerous checks for safety, security, and other urgent matters, actively looking for urgent or emergency issues needing Security Operations Center support and actions and making logs of same.

Regularly and in support of the security operations center strategic role, performs data analysis, using software tools like Excel to build graphs, tables etc., demonstrating trends.

Regularly uses four software tools at once, to provide situational awareness city wide.

Has the highest ethical standards for the work they perform and demonstrates the ability to be trusted with highly sensitive information, materials and unfolding, life threatening situations.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position will be assigned primarily to the Emergency Department and will serve as the first responder to the most violent and dangerous security incidents occurring throughout the facility and the campus. When the incident involves anyone other than a patient, the Tactical Officer will be responsible for directing the security response the violent incidents. The tactical officer will be the primary liaison with law enforcement during critical incidences. This position will assist with patrol functions across the campus; the welfare and safety of personnel and patients; investigations of critical incidents; provide security assistance to employees, patients and visitors and secures doors as needed.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Apprehends suspects in cases of conflict, escalation or unauthorized entry into buildings and work areas, malicious mischief, or other violations. Conducts investigations and prepares investigative reports.

2. Serves as the primary point of contact with law enforcement during critical incidents.

3. Monitors and assesses situations and determining appropriate response. Utilizes critical thinking skills in emergency and stressful situations.

4. Patrols facility buildings and grounds watching for unauthorized persons, fires and unusual occurrences; and reports emergencies immediately upon discovery.

5. Utilizes verbal de-escalation techniques and advance workplace violence mitigation skills and tactical skills in security, emergency and conflict situations.

6. Investigates and completes written reports of complaints, critical security incidents and unusual activities involving patients, employees and visitors; submits all reports to the security leadership by the end of the shift in which the report occurs. Maintains an accurate log of all relevant security activities during each shift.

7. Escorts patients, visitors and employees as needed. Assists medical staff in restraining and handling disturbed patients.

8. Enforces security rules and regulations, to patrol grounds by foot or in a vehicle, to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations, to communicate effectively, and to prepare a concise incident reports. Follows instructions and follows safe work practices. Acts as a point of contact for other officers as needed.

9. Position reports directly to the Security Director. This position interacts internally with staff, physicians, visitors, volunteers and patients. External customers are law enforcement agencies and emergency service agencies. The position is system wide and officers may be assigned to work at any facility as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.

Must possess strong knowledge and understanding of security as normally obtained by a minimum of three years of law enforcement or military experience or seven years of hospital security experience. Requires successful completion of Banner Health’s Tactical Officer certification training upon hire. Requires ability to demonstrate and successfully use all required competencies annually. Must possess interpersonal skills and be customer service oriented in all contacts with patients, visitors and staff. Requires advanced critical thinking, monitoring skills and ability to quickly assess situations and determine appropriate response in escalated conflict, security and emergency situations. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform physical requirements of the position. Capabilities will be demonstrated through the successful completion of similarly related skills testing. Employees hired on or after January 1, 2019 will need to successfully demonstrate the physical requirements before starting in the role. Employees hired before January 1, 2019 must be able to successfully demonstrate the physical requirements by December 31, 2019.
