The Public Health team is part of the Public Health, Insight and Migration Division.
Reporting to the Director of Public Health and Wellbeing, the team helps people to stay healthy and protect them from threats to their health.
The Public Health team commissions and delivers a wide range of services and programmes that tackle health inequalities and help people to live healthier lives including:
- Alcohol and drugs misuse strategy, treatment and recovery services
- Sexual health services including sexually transmitted infections and contraception
- Healthy lifestyles support with losing weight, getting more active, giving up smoking, cutting down on alcohol and improving your well being
- Physical activity strategy and projects including school based exercise, parks and cycling
- Family health including health visiting, infant feeding, school nurses, teenage pregnancy support, family weight management and services supporting BME families
- Health protection strategy and services including air quality, blood borne virus testing, screening & immunisations, infection control, emergency planning and outbreak management
- The Marmot City strategy, reducing health inequalities across the city
- Domestic abuse and sexual abuse strategies and support services
- Youth violence reduction

What is the job role?18-month Secondment/Fixed Term Contract. 37 hours per week.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Public Health team supporting the development and ongoing sustainability of strategic partnerships that aim to improve the health and wellbeing of Coventry residents.
Working with the Population Health Policy Officer and Domestic Abuse Programme Manager the post will:
- Support the development of the Health and Wellbeing Board and relevant Scrutiny Boards
- Coordinate partnership work between a range of statutory and voluntary agencies to act on findings from Domestic Abuse Related Death Reviews (DARDR’s) and Child Death Overview Panels (CDOP)
- Provide co-ordination and administrative support for Domestic Abuse Related Death Reviews (DARDR) ensuring that the reviews are completed in line with legislation, statutory guidance, local guidance and best practise
- Be a key point of contact for independent DARDR Chairs and external agencies ensuring the process is delivered effectively
- Manage MS Teams and Sharepoint systems that support these workstreams
- Provide a single point of access for the CDOP team. The CDOP team sit within the ICB and require Coventry City Council to participate in child death reviews, child death panels and Sudden Death Joint Agency Responses. The post holder will be a key contact for the board in ensuring a timely and appropriate response from within the Council so that statutory duties are met.
Who are we looking for? - You’ll have significant experience in project support and admin duties including organising meetings, taking minutes, capturing actions, lessons learnt and good practice.
- You will have experience in communicating with internal and external stakeholders, at all levels.
- You will have experience of working in partnership with a range of statutory and voluntary sector partners, along with the ability to manage multiple demands, work methodically and achieve targets / deadlines
- You will have knowledge of statutory review processes e.g. DARDR’s, CDOP, Safeguarding Adult Reviews, Child Safeguarding Practise reviews and associated learning reviews
- You’ll be skilled at prioritising work, managing time and working autonomously under pressure to deliver to deadlines.
- You’ll be creative, proactive, and have experience in problem-solving and quick decision-making, whilst dealing with competing priorities.
- You will enjoy helping develop and learn new project and administrative processes to help projects to run smoothly.
- You will have excellent skills with Microsoft Word Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
- You will be someone keen to develop and learn new knowledge and skills in a supportive team environment.
This is a demanding role which deals with sensitive and challenging information on a day-to-day basis. Effective and sensitive communication skills, and the ability to demonstrate personal resilience in a professional working environment are key.
