(1) Troubleshoots, performs maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. This may include self-propelled artillery, tracked cargo and personnel carriers, road graders, mobile cranes, front loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, power shovels, compressors, generators, tanks, tracked combat vehicles, sedans, buses, all terrain vehicles, trucks, semi trailers, forklifts, tractors, and accessory equipment. Troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls. (2) Troubleshoots equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, and computer diagnostic tools. Utilizes embedded diagnostics in equipment and a wide variety of original equipment manufacturer system analyzers in order to determine the exact nature or extent of repair. Determines what adjustments may be necessary to complete work orders, and whether any additional repairs other than those specified or indicated on the work order are necessary.

(3) Removes and disassembles engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Makes the appropriate repairs, overhaul, or modifications in accordance with the proper repair specifications and procedures. Reassembles engines and other systems, and adjusts, tests, and reinstalls in vehicles and equipment as necessary. Makes adjustments and repairs to electrical and suspension systems. May install pistons, sleeves, rings, bearings, rods, crankshafts, timing gears, and rocker arms. May be required to perform fuel injection equipment repair, overhaul, rebuild, and calibration duties utilizing a variety of complex test and calibration equipment.

(4) Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps. Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees within the team. Assists lower grade mechanics in performing major repair work. May provide Field and limited Sustainment maintenance at unit locations as part of a "contact team." Recovers and evacuates inoperable vehicles from the unit location of breakdown. May assist higher graded mechanics in repairing a variety of interconnected systems such as electrical, air and hydraulic systems, complex state of the art electrical and electronic systems that use specialized diagnostic equipment to identify problems, complex fuel injection systems and other similar complex systems.

(5) Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. Performs operational inspections and ensures vehicles and equipment are properly serviced, including brake adjustments, replacing hydraulic fluids, greasing, cleaning, etc., and performs other preventive maintenance operations as required. Inspects supported equipment prior to use during Inactive Duty Training (IDT) and Annual Training (AT), to ensure that it is functioning properly. May serve as a commodity inspector during Command Maintenance Management evaluations (COMET) or as a member of a Maintenance Assistance Instruction Team (MAIT). As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, WG-5801-11, you will troubleshoot, repair, maintain, inspect, and/or overhaul a variety of complex combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment having complicated mechanical and non-mechanical systems with a variety of interconnected systems. Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees. This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility.

(1) Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles. As a PUBLIC HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-8, you will maintain Force Health Protection through planning, evaluating, and management principles related to epidemiological, operational, and occupational and public health programs. This includes occupational health, hearing conservation, reproductive health, bloodborne pathogens exposure control, communicable disease control, immunization, disease vector surveillance, disease/epidemiological surveillance, aircraft inspection, facility sanitation, food safety and vulnerability, health risk assessment, medical intelligence, and operational medicine. The position occupant serves as a member of or advisor to management boards and committees, i.e., Occupational Safety Health Council, Aerospace Medical Council, Force Health Protective Working Group and wing leadership, regarding Force Health Protection.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(1) Manages the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), Air Force Occupational Safety and Health (AFOSH) mandated occupational health education and training programs and Department of Defense Instruction (DODI). Determines educational/training requirements for employees by analyzing existing compliance data. Works in conjunction with unit workplace supervisors to develop and conduct occupational health education training relative to both general and specific hazards. Sets up surveys, provides education, tracks and develops training, researches requirements and provides coordination to ensure programs are viable.

(2) Manages the OSHA and AFOSH mandated occupational health medical surveillance program. Analyzes the results of Bioenvironmental Engineering (BEE) Industrial Hygiene Surveys, and determines the need for employee occupational health medical examinations (OHMEs). Analyzes scientific and compliance data to determine the scope and frequency of required occupational health surveillance. Reviews Department of Defense studies and documentation and disease control studies. Identifies specific target organs for medical testing when designing OHME requirements and determines appropriate biological indices IAW OSHA and AFOSH standards. Presents the completed surveillance packages to the Occupational Health Working Group (OHWG) and Aerospace Medicine Council (AMC) and implements the OHME requirements as directed.

(3) Coordinates OHMEs within the MDG and ensures pre-placement, annual/periodic, and termination examinations are completed. Reviews results of pre-placement OHMEs to recommend suitability for job placement. Updates and maintains the Preventive Health Assessment/Individual Medical Readiness (PIMR) Aerospace Services Information Management System (ASIMS) Occupational Health database monthly to ensure employees are properly identified for OHMEs and conducts periodic reviews of medical records and industrial case files to ensure OHME data is properly documented and maintained.

(4) Studies, analyzes and develops workplace-specific trends by summarizing, interpreting and managing OHME results. Performs quality insurance audits on all records that are on occupational review and flags for committee review and required follow up action. Advises on follow-up when trend analysis results deviate from normal values and presents this information to the OHWG and AMC. Communicates trend analysis results and the required follow-up actions to workplace supervisors. Evaluates industrial shops to ensure compliance with OSHA and AFOSH standards.

(5) Manages the Reproductive Health Program. Studies and analyzes BEE Industrial Hygiene Survey data to determine chemical/workplace risks to fetal health. Executes OSHA/AFOSH principles, methods and guidelines to evaluate the presence of reproductive and fetal risk factors. Interviews and educates employees, consults the workplace supervisor and determines the need for employee work restrictions and counsels the employee on potential health hazards that may affect pregnancy and reproductive health at the workplace, at home, and during recreational activities.

(6) Manages the Bloodborne Pathogens Program (BPP). Analyzes BEE Industrial Hygiene Survey data to identify personnel potentially at risk of exposure to blood and body fluids. Periodically reviews the Wing or MDG Instruction on BBP prevention to update compliance requirement information, as needed.

(7) Manages the PIMR ASIMS Hospital Employee Health Program (HEHP) database. Develops a screening questionnaire that properly identifies employees who are in a High-Risk and/or Exposure-Prone category per CDC definition. Determines immunization and testing requirements and duty limitations for High-Risk and/or Exposure-Prone personnel. Conducts periodic immunization and required testing evaluations. Educates employees and medical staff on current disease trends and prevention IAW current CDC guidelines.

This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility. As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-5801-10, you will serve as a working leader of three or more Surface Maintenance Mechanics, WG-5801-10. Performs mechanic duties involving maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment. Provides technical subordinate guidance and group leadership to employees on the team.

DUTIES:
a. Assigns work orders to specific crewmembers and selects workers for various jobs on the basis of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Passes on to workers instructions received from the supervisor, demonstrates proper work methods, and starts work. Insures that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Works along with other workers and sets pace performing non-supervisory repair work of the same kind and level as that done by the group led. Work performed by the incumbent involves troubleshooting, maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles.

b. Assures that there is enough work to keep the work crew busy. Checks work in progress and when finished for compliance with supervisor's instructions, work orders, and established shop procedures on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines; and directs or advises other workers to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet deadlines. Answers workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Interprets work instructions and assists lower graded repairers or trainees in the more difficult and complex tasks. Provides information to the supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems. Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.

(2) Non-Supervisory Duties:

a. Troubleshoots, performs maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. This may include self-propelled artillery, tracked cargo and personnel carriers, road graders, mobile cranes, front loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, power shovels, compressors, generators, tanks, tracked combat vehicles, sedans, buses, all terrain vehicles, trucks, semi trailers, forklifts, tractors, and accessory equipment. Incumbent troubleshoots repairs and may overhaul major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls. Makes repairs to assemblies and components such as voltage regulators, generators/alternators, brake cylinders, etc. Performs work in accordance with Modification Work Orders, Technical Manuals, Lubrication Orders, Maintenance Bulletins, Regulations or management policies.

b. Troubleshoots equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, and computer diagnostic tools. Utilizes embedded diagnostics in equipment and a wide variety of original equipment manufacturer system analyzers in order to determine the exact nature or extent of repair.

c. Removes and disassembles engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Makes the appropriate repairs, overhaul, or modifications in accordance with the proper repair specifications and procedures. Reassembles engines and other systems, and adjusts, tests, and reinstalls in vehicles and equipment as necessary. Makes adjustments and repairs to electrical and suspension systems.

d. Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps. Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees within the team. Assists lower grade mechanics in performing major repair work. May assist higher graded mechanics in repairing a variety of interconnected systems such as electrical, air and hydraulic systems, complex state of the art electrical and electronic systems which use specialized diagnostic equipment to identify problems, complex fuel injection systems, and other similar complex systems.

• Identifies and record anomalies of the heart indicative of disease, injury, or other medically significant conditions from ultrasound imaging and simultaneous recordings of the Doppler;
• Incorporate the causes and results of a variety of symptoms and conditions into a plan of ultrasonic diagnostic examination;
• Change and develop sounding techniques to accommodate such variables as limited patient mobility, variation in physical condition or dimension of the patient presence of prosthetics or foreign objects, and ultrasonic response of different body parts;
• Produce diagnostic quality images and doppler and Doppler frequency recordings using M-mode, two-dimensional, and Doppler ultrasound;
• Provides training and supervision of complex examination and treatment procedures and techniques;
• Assists in performing Treadmill stress tests when available;
• Assists with immediate patient management in cases of emergent echocardiographic findings;
• Assists with immediate patient management in cardiology clinic when required per local site policies;
• Teaches basic techniques to cardiology residents, fellows, and students assigned to the laboratory;
• Performs preventive maintenance of the equipment and coordinates service with biomedical engineering including help with researching/obtaining quotes for parts/services needed.
• Assists in writing Policies, Procedures and Protocol development.
• Assists in performance of stress echocardiograms.
• Assists in performance of contrast echocardiograms- Agitated sterile saline, contrast agents.
• Ability of assisting cardiologist in performing transesophageal echocardiograms.
• Performs Holters/Ambulatory Cardiac Monitoring when available.
• Assists in maintaining and ordering adequate supplies used in the Echo department.
• Assist Medical Service with all cardiology clinic consultations tracking to include inpatients and outpatients consults.
