National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Construction Assurance Manger to join our team in the East region. The Construction Assurance Manager will play a key role in the delivery of National Highways Capital Investment Schemes by representing the companies interests on civil engineering construction and maintenance sites. Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, you will actively ensure construction schemes are delivered in line with time, cost, quality and safety standards, and customer experience is not adversely impacted. Please note additional and/or unsociable working hours including night working may be required for which there will be paid overtime and/or a nightwork uplift. 

This role will require travel across the East region and can be based from either Bedford, Cambridge or Ipswich.

You will also be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have no more than 3 points to be considered for this position and during employment.
 
What you'll be leading on

• Assuring the completion of planned works to agreed standards and escalate any concerns to the Construction Manager, in line with agreed governance requirements.
• Ensuring that all works are constructed in line with: CDM regulations, HSE Legislation, Chapter 8 requirements, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highways Works (MCHW).
• Ensuring Project Managers receive regular and timely feedback on scheme construction progress, risks, early warnings, design related issues, and act as the initial point of escalation for any on-site issues that need to be resolved.
• Acting as liaison between all key supply chain partners and co-ordinate the delivery programme, ensuring buildability reviews are carried out on all projects.
• Maintaining good liaison with Project Managers and Commercial & Procurement colleagues, providing relevant and timely information on Early Warnings and Compensation Events

To be successful

• Proven highways/structures maintenance/construction experience; experience of working on high speed Trunk Road/Motorway Networks is desirable
• Knowledge of site-based processes, relevant legislation, practices and polices for health & safety, environmental and quality management, including good understanding of the DMRB, MCHW, Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and CDM Regulations.
• Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including stakeholder management, with a strong customer focus and managing geographically dispersed teams.
• Experienced in using the NEC 4 ECC form of contract.

Purpose of the role

This role will focus on optimising our quality processes and systems, ensuring we meet the ever-evolving demands of the
pharmaceutical industry while maintaining full compliance. Reporting to the Quality Director, you'll work closely with
cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement.



Key Responsibilities

* Lead the continued rollout of the Electronic Quality Management System (EQMS), with a focus on modules such as Non-Conformance,
CAPA, Change Control, and Continuous Improvement.
* Oversee client integration processes, ensuring compliance with change control and risk assessments.
* Host and support client audits, providing timely responses to audit reports and maintaining Quality Technical Agreements.
* Collaborate with the Commercial Team to support new business inquiries, ensuring client requirements are fully integrated into
our Quality Management System.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with external client quality teams, delivering clear communication and exceeding client
expectations.

Technical and Behavioural Skills

* Proven ability to work independently and within a team, delivering high performance in a fast-paced, deadline-driven
environment.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence in engaging with diverse audiences.
* Strong problem-solving abilities, organisational skills, and proficiency in managing multiple priorities.
* In-depth knowledge of Good Distribution Practices (GDP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and pharmaceutical compliance
standards.
* Experience in pharmaceutical product transportation, storage, and distribution.

Desirable Qualifications:

* RP Gold Standard Training.
* Qualified Lead Auditor certification.
* Experience as a Registered Responsible Person (RP) in the pharmaceutical industry.
