The School of Computer Science and Mathematics within the Faculty of Engineering and Technology seeks to appoint to the grade of Senior Lecturer or Senior Teaching Fellow in Mathematics.

We are looking to appoint someone with demonstrable experience in the fields of mathematics, statistics and data science.

The role will require delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the School and the specific development of the areas listed to ensure our curriculum is up-to-date and meeting the needs of employers and applicants. You will also be expected to make broad contributions to the academic work of the School of Computer Science and Mathematics in the fields of mathematics, statistics and data science. In addition, you may contribute to the development and delivery of outreach and engagement initiatives as well as interdisciplinary project areas. You are likely to have a background in a relevant area with a PhD in a related subject and/or relevant professional experience from industry.

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow to join our diverse and progressive academic portfolio at the LJMU School of Biological & Environmental Sciences. The position is for one year only and it is part-time, so it is particularly suited to recent PhD graduates who wish to build a robust teaching experience.

You will have a PhD in ecology, marine biology, environmental sciences, or similar. You will be keen to contribute to teaching activities for our undergraduate programmes in Biology, Zoology, Wildlife Conservation, and potentially at Master level (e.g. Wildlife Conservation Technology, Climate Change). Contributions will include lectures, practical sessions, field trips, and potentially tutorials and project supervision.

Although the position is specifically focused on teaching, You will be working closely with Professor Stefano Mariani's team, which may lead to some research collaborations. This post will be based in the LJMU Teaching & Learning Academy and you will be part of a team that contributes to the understanding of the student experience through research and evaluation. This project is funded by The Humane Research Trust CIO, Stockport, UK. It is two-year, fixed-term post-doctoral research assistant position available in the Chemoinformatics Research Group in the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University.

The project will involve identifying relevant PBK models from the literature, using systematic review. Key information from the models will be curated in order to expand an existing database of physiologically-based kinetic (PBK) models. Methods used to parameterise and evaluate published models will be investigated. The project aims to optimise parameterisation of PBK models using in silico (computational) methods and to assess the predictivity of such models, by comparison to existing data. Best practice in building PBK models, using parameters derived from in silico methods will be identified and used to develop guidance. You will be expected to transfer and disseminate knowledge (internally and externally) and to assist in the management and reporting of the project.

You should have, or expect to obtain soon, a PhD in the field of Physiologically-Based (Pharmaco)Kinetic (PBK/PBPK) Modelling. Experience may have been obtained in developing or applying PBK models in the areas of pharmacology, toxicology (human or environmental), food science, cosmetic science, or another relevant field.

We are now looking for a Research Support Assistant to work with a small group of academics and clinicians on a research study - Reducing Emergency Admissions for Patients with Cancer Complications and/or Co-morbidities (REAP- CCC).

The REAP-CCC project is funded by The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and will explore the views and experiences of patients, families and professionals concerning the availability of services, the reasons for presenting at the emergency department, and the factors leading to emergency admissions of patients with cancer (type 3 presentation).

You will support the principal investigator and research team in finalising the study materials, collecting and analysing the qualitative data and completing the final report. Key to this role will be supporting the co-ordination of the study, which will involve liaison with the research and clinical teams.

Applications are invited for a graduate research assistant position on a mixed-methods research project focused on suicide prevention in Cumberland. Cumberland Council are embarking on the preparation of a new suicide prevention strategic plan. However, before they begin, they are seeking to understand the lived experience and causality that sits behind the loss of life to suicide in Cumberland, in order to give them the best chance of identifying the interventions that could make a difference.

This project will use a layered approach to understand why suicide rates are so much higher in Cumberland than elsewhere in England. The study, conducted by LJMU and commissioned by Cumberland Council, will aim to explore residents' and communities' exposure to suicide and if and how it has affected their lives. For those who have considered suicide or have been bereaved by suicide, the study will seek to understand the contributing factors and what could/would have helped those individuals to make different choices.

Work will involve conducting interviews and focus groups in Cumberland, administering online surveys, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and writing reports of the findings. You will be based in the School of Psychology, with mentoring and supervision provided by Dr Ashworth and Dr Saini.

You should hold a BSc in Psychology or a related field. You will be used to working independently and have excellent organisation skills. Previous experience in conducting research and collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data (using SPSS and NVivo), within and beyond undergraduate qualifications, will be an advantage. Experience conducting research in the field of suicide prevention will also be advantageous. Excellent computer and communication skills are essential. The successful applicant will need to be able to conduct data collection in Cumberland periodically (expenses will be covered).

The successful candidate would need to be available to begin work as soon as possible.

This post will provide key support for NIHR-funded research to co-produce digital and non-digital alcohol interventions tailored to maternal populations (covering women trying to get pregnant, during pregnancy, and the first 5 years of motherhood). This is a unique and prestigious opportunity to work with a world-leading research team on marine alternative fuels. You will be part of the EU Horizon-funded project 'Retrofit Solutions to Achieve 55% GHG Reduction By 2030', a cutting-edge initiative aimed at developing a combination of energy-saving solutions for retrofitting, with a focus on achieving 35% of GHG emissions from existing vessels.

You will have expertise in all or some of the following areas: electrification of marine vessels, development and integration of fuel cell-battery systems, the design and simulation of hybrid powertrain architectures, optimising battery capacity for varying loads, and creating control strategies to ensure efficient and safe operation of electric and hybrid marine systems. This post is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual at an early stage of their research career to develop their knowledge of evidence synthesis methods and build skills in public and population health research methods.

We are looking for a Research Assistant to work under the supervision of Lisa Jones (Reader in Public Health) and others across the Faculty of Health on funded research grants and/or projects on a variety of public and population health related topics.

We are looking for candidates with experience of using evidence synthesis methods, understanding of applied public health research methods and who are highly motivated to work on population health topics. The successful candidate will principally support evidence synthesis projects involving scoping reviews and/or systematic reviews. The role will also provide administrative support and contribute to grant development and the preparation of reports and other publications for internal and external audiences.

The post is funded for 6 months in the first instance.
