Duties include but are not limited to:

Cadence is the leader in hardware emulation-prototyping technology and products. This hands-on position is responsible to set up and maintain emulator, servers, storage and InfiniBand/Ethernet network infrastructure. You will also help develop and execute validation tests on the emulator. Occasionally, you’ll be required to travel to customer sites to support installation and troubleshooting of new systems. This position is in our San Jose headquarter and will report to the system engineering group director. System engineering team is responsible to define, validate and enable this complex multi-rack system.

Key responsibilities

• Physically setup and maintain complex multi-rack emulator.
• Install and maintain the appropriate BIOS, device drivers, firmware OS and applications on R&D IT Lab and platform emulator infrastructure.
• Execute tests to validate the emulator against a set of specifications.
• Review, replicate, and respond to internal/external customer issues. Perform initial analysis of error logs.
• Develop silicon and system stress tests. Leverage tests developed by other engineers. Package tests for production and field use.
• Order and track R&D lab material.

Required Education and Experience

• Proficient in Linux shell script and good knowledge of Python (or any other computer language).
• In-depth knowledge of Linux, IB and Ethernet network and storage administration.
• Prior Experience in administrating hardware emulator would be ideal.
• Hands-on troubleshooting including performance, electrical, system, network, storage, mechanical troubleshooting skills are a must.
• Good knowledge of system performance, security and open source software packages.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivated and must be able to work with different teams in different time zones.
• Some domestic and international customer visits are required.

The annual salary range for California is $108,500 to $201,500. You may also be eligible to receive incentive compensation: bonus, equity, and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Physical Demands

Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently. Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 10 hrs. Occasional climbing of stairs several times per hour required. Ability to work in wet and cold temperatures at 35 degrees.
