A range of clinical investigations, procedures or processes can be performed to deliver patient care according to the agreed IMP. These investigations, procedures or processes must also be interpreted and reported to the patient and others involved in his/her care. Clinical

• Assist in the review of study protocols and contribute to the feasibility/study selection process, advising on safety, regulatory and logistical issues.

• Liaise with RD&I Set Up Team staff contributing to the process of gaining local regulatory committee approval where required to ensure efficient service is delivered to sponsors.

• Randomise / enrol patients into clinical trials or other research studies.

• Assess and evaluate the progress of on-going clinical trials and research identifying resource implications for the teams.

• Co-ordinate the monthly local portfolio team performance meetings: identify and act on issues.

• Ensure accurate records for all research projects that are overseen within allocated teams are kept in accordance with all regulatory requirements including the data protection act

• Ensure that all ICH GCP required documentation is kept in a clearly traceable system and is stored in an appropriate manner for the appropriate length of time.

• Provide advice and support to other members of the research and multidisciplinary team with regard to research governance.

• Ensure self and team members respond to data queries generated by the study co-ordinating team within a timely manner.

• Ensure all team members maintain accurate records of study recruitment as per local procedure and status of studies providing regular updates. This will involve ensuring that EDGE (local patient management system) is updated with key trial data and feeding back through the local portfolio team meetings

Auditory Rehabilitation

• The Advanced Audiologist develops interventions and rehabilitation programmes based upon autonomous clinical opinion, which may involve onward referral to relevant intervention programmes such as specialist tertiary services.
• The rehabilitation programmes may also include balance rehabilitation; tinnitus rehabilitation; paediatric habilitation.
In addition the Specialist Audiologist may undertake motivational interviewing or counselling.
• The Specialist Audiologist has an awareness of local external agencies who can provide additional help and support to the patient and will signpost/refer the patient as agreed

Main duties: 1. To act as lead Medical Physics Expert in Radiotherapy Physics research. This means acting as a lead source of knowledge and expertise in this field, to interpret measured and predicted results and determine the reasons for anomalous results and the cause of subtle or non-reproducible equipment or technique faults. 2. Research and Development:2.1. To assist with the strategic development of programmes of research in Clinical Physics and Biomedical Engineering, supporting those who seek external funding.2.2. To manage the portfolio of Radiotherapy Physics research and clinical trials activity.2.3. To foster and coordinate links with academic institutions.2.4. To promote and facilitate joint research between UHCW and the West Midlands Radiotherapy Network.2.5. To initiate, supervise and carry out research in Radiotherapy Physics seeking external funding where appropriate.2.6. To report on the results of such research at national and international scientific meetings and by published papers in refereed journals. 3. Management3.1. Individual Management Plan (IMP) Development The development of the IMP should include a range of investigations, procedures or processes in consultation with families and relevant others, based on the individual child's needs and wishes and accepted good practice. Develops and delivers IMPs for families within specialist Audiology services e.g. paediatrics Diagnostic Assessments The Advanced Healthcare Scientist in Audiology undertakes the full range of available Audiological tests unsupervised, including advanced diagnostic testing, in particular, frequency specific objective testing to determine thresholds in young babies. Auditory Rehabilitation The Advanced Audiologist develops interventions and rehabilitation programmes based upon autonomous clinical opinion, which may involve onward referral to relevant intervention programmes such as specialist tertiary services. The rehabilitation programmes may also include balance rehabilitation; tinnitus rehabilitation; paediatric habilitation.In addition the Specialist Audiologist may undertake motivational interviewing or counselling. Clinical Work autonomously to manage a caseload of patients acting as a professional to ensure care to patients is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures and the research protocol delivery high standards and continuity of clinical care for study participants. Maintain strong relationships and communication channels with other key personnel such as multidisciplinary teams, clinical wards areas. Attend Multi-disciplinary Meetings, and appropriate clinics, to assess volunteers/patients for eligibility for research and recruit new patients, to act as a resource to the members of the MDT. Ensure that trial specific clinical investigations / procedures are undertaken as required by the research protocol in order to establish eligibility and maintain safety in the trial by all team members. Take relevant samples as required by the study protocol such as blood samples, package and dispatch as defined. Ensure safe and appropriate storage of specimens in accordance with trial protocols and regulatory / Trust guidance. Ensure all team members undertake relevant training and assessment of competence, working within scope of professional practice prior to undertaking any clinical procedures / administration of treatments associated with the research treatment regimes. Ensure the safe administration of treatments and drugs that are given within the context of a clinical trial by all team members. Ensure staff monitor treatment toxicity/side effects reporting to the relevant personnel, recording as required assisting in any required changes to treatment as required by the protocol Ensure all staff record and report adverse /serious adverse events as classified in the study protocol criteria which occur whilst patient is in the clinical trial e.g. hospital admission since last study visit Ensure accurate documentation of patients events in nursing/medical notes and study specific case report forms. Provide ongoing information, education and support to patients (and their significant others) regarding clinical trials and their care. Research and Portfolio Management Lead in the delivery of studies within the relevant specialities ensuring they meet the requirements with regards to the Department of Healths Research Governance Framework for Health and Social Care and the EU Clinical Trials legislation by implementing quality systems. Assist in the review of study protocols and contribute to the feasibility/study selection process, advising on safety, regulatory and logistical issues. Liaise with RD&I Set Up Team staff contributing to the process of gaining local regulatory committee approval where required to ensure efficient service is delivered to sponsors. Work with the research teams and investigators to develop strategies to overcome barriers to recruitment and solve other problems relating to specific studies. Following appropriate training and competence assessment receive written informed consent from participants for allocated research studies in accordance with study protocol and Trust guidance. Following appropriate training and competence assessment act as an assessor for the process of informed consent for research according to Trust guidelines. Randomise / enrol patients into clinical trials or other research studies. Assess and evaluate the progress of on-going clinical trials and research identifying resource implications for the teams. Co-ordinate the monthly local portfolio team performance meetings: identify and act on issues. Ensure accurate records for all research projects that are overseen within allocated teams are kept in accordance with all regulatory requirements including the data protection act Ensure that all ICH GCP required documentation is kept in a clearly traceable system and is stored in an appropriate manner for the appropriate length of time. Provide advice and support to other members of the research and multidisciplinary team with regard to research governance. Ensure self and team members respond to data queries generated by the study co-ordinating team within a timely manner. Ensure all team members maintain accurate records of study recruitment as per local procedure and status of studies providing regular updates. The successful candidate will have a relevant health / mental health related degree or qualification. They should be computer literate, with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. Knowledge of and experience of health and/or social care research is essential. The role will involve travel to research sites across Coventry and Warwickshire so applicants must have the ability to move freely across the Trust.
