This is a full-time, fixed term post (12 months) focused specifically on developing oral health improvement interventions for people with experience of drugs. • Recruit people with lived experience to inform the design process and lead Patient and Public Involvement activity.
• Plan and execute data collection to support the project using qualitative methods and facilitation of workshops.
• Embed research activities in the development process with a focus on producing high quality research outputs (Research Excellence Framework grading of internationally excellent or world leading) and disseminating work in appropriate forums including conferences, knowledge exchange events, and community events.

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Research Assistant within Professor Roland Wolf's group to investigate the potential mechanisms by which air pollution impacts human health. The project is a key part of a large multi- disciplinary UKRI/NERC funded consortium entitled "Hazard Identification Platform in Toxicology" (HIP-Tox), involving the Universities of Manchester, York, Edinburgh, Birmingham, and Imperial College London. This is a fixed-term appointment for 1 year.

Over the last decade our understanding of the impact of air pollution on both short- and long-term population health has advanced considerably and there is now an increased appreciation of how low levels of exposure not only affect the cardiopulmonary system but also other tissues such as the brain. In the latter case leading to poor mental health and enhancing the risk of dementia. However, there are still major gaps in our understanding of the most harmful components within the air we breathe and the mechanisms by which they induce their adverse effects. This project involves the use of unique in vivo reporter models of cellular adaptive responses to chemical and inflammation-induced stress to evaluate the mechanisms by which source-specific airborne pollutants impact on brain function; both at a toxicological level, and in collaboration with the Penning/Meehan teams at the University of Edinburgh, at the level of DNA methylation. Our aim is to provide a relative ranking of the hazard of specific aerosols across the indoor/outdoor continuum, the identification of the causal chemical components driving these adverse health effects, and the identification of biomarkers which reflect these.

You will have the opportunity to work as part of a large multi-disciplinary consortium across multiple UK universities. You will contribute to our understanding of the deleterious effects of air pollution, and in the process, you will hone your molecular biological, biochemistry, and histology skills. You will gain experience in colony management. You will also have the potential to be trained in a wide array of in vivo techniques and procedures using our unique transgenic in vivo reporter models.

The Drug Discovery Unit (DOU) at the University of Dundee is globally recognised for its scientific excellence and delivery of new candidate drugs for infectious diseases. The DOU comprises over 130 highly skilled and motivated staff, spanning all core drug discovery disciplines and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

We have an exciting one year opening for an enthusiastic Research scientist to perform high-throughput cell-based screening assays for the pathogenic fungus Cryptococcus neoformans. Within the DOU we have extensive expertise in building cascades of cell-based assays that combine the high-throughput required to screening large compound collections with the physiological relevance required to progress compounds with confidence. We are now expanding our portfolio to include cryptococcosis and are building a team to develop a fit-for-purpose screening cascade as we have done in the past for kinetoplastid parasites. This work is part of Tres Cantos Open Lab Foundation project and will be carried out in Tres Cantos (near Madrid, Spain), with GSK acting as the employer post recruitment. Full support will be provided for travel and accommodation (if relocation is required). We are looking for an exceptional individual to join the Sapkota Lab as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to investigate the molecular roles of the FAM83 family of proteins. We have found that FAM83 proteins are the master regulators of CK1 kinases, which themselves are critical for normal cell function and are dysregulated in many diseases, including cancer (PMID: 29789297). We have established that specific FAM83-CK1 interactions are key in controlling a variety of cellular processes ranging from WNT signalling (PMID: 29514862; 33361109; 33361334) to cell division (PMID: 31338967) and can play direct roles in disease pathology (PMID: 31656861).

Given the importance of FAM83-CK1 interactions, it is critical that we now understand the molecular basis of these and determine how specific FAM83 proteins deliver CK1 activity to specific substrates to control CK1 biology. We will employ cutting edge technologies, such as CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, Cryo-EM & crystallography, mass- spectrometry, and organoid models, in this endeavour. Furthermore, the project aims to use PROTACs and molecular glue degraders to target the degradation of specific FAM83-CK1 complexes as an innovative strategy to inhibit cancer cell proliferation.

• Undertaking research aimed at understanding the molecular basis of FAM83-CK1 interaction by employing structural approaches and developing cell models to dissect the impact of disrupting specific FAM83-CK1 interaction on cell signalling and proliferation, with a particular focus on WNT signalling.


• Project development and implementation, including experimental design and development of cell lines using CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing. Develop tools and workflows to dissect WNT signalling pathway and consequences of targeted degradation of specific FAM83-CK1 complexes.

• Performing protein purifications for structural studies and biophysical measurements of protein-protein interactions.


• Working closely and collaboratively with a team of postdoctoral fellow and PhD students working on different FAM83 proteins.


• Discussing scientific work at internal meetings, meetings with DSTT industrial partners and at conferences.

Who we're looking for:

• PhD with an outstanding track record and at least one first-authored publication in an internationally recognised peer-reviewed journal.


• Strong background in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, and signal transduction, with expertise in protein chemistry and reversible protein phosphorylation desirable.


• Strong background in protein expression and structural biology is desirable.


• Strong background in WNT signalling and cancer biology is desirable.


• Capable of working in a diverse team, but able to plan and work independently.

We are looking to appoint an experienced Research Culture and Environment Administrator to ensure the effective delivery of the Wellcome IFRC, to ensure alignment and support wider research culture activities across the University. You will provide excellent levels of support and service to all stakeholders, ensuring that work is carried out within the University's procedures and policy guidelines. You will maintain extensive working contacts across the University and establish yourself as the point of contact for the area. This post is supported by external funding, with an end date of 30 April 2026, for this fixed term role.

Your priorities will include:

• Be responsible for coordinating and providing administrative support for the funding or training opportunities supported by the IFRC.


• Provide financial administrative support to the Research Culture and Environment unit, including requisitioning and receipting of purchases in the One University system.

Thales OME undertakes R&T projects to; obtain up-to-date technical knowledge, assess the technical feasibility of potential solutions and to help de-risk new products. Our R&T activities span Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 1 to 6, involving; paper studies, laboratory studies, customer and internally funded projects, proof of principle concepts and prototype builds.

Thales OME is particularly interested in electro-optic sensors and imaging systems, optical system design, algorithms and machine learning applied to imaging systems and emerging technologies related to these that can influence our future products.

This role will be primarily based on-site at either Glasgow or Reading. The role involves domestic and international travel to other Thales sites, partners or customers.

Key responsibilities/tasks include:

• You will be working with the OME Technical Directorate, that has Chief Technologists across the entire OME product spectrum plus collaborating with the Chief Product Line Engineers, Product Line Design Authorities (PLDA). The role will be to look for funding opportunities to support the realisation of product line technology roadmaps.
• Liaise with Thales Research & Technology (R&T) teams across Thales, (Optronics and Missile electronics business, others) and ensure a good relationship with KTDs (Key Technology Domains).
• Explore business opportunities with the wider customer community (Government, Universities and other commercial businesses).
• Working with Sales Teams you will gain access to a wide range of key customers and be exposed to their thinking and requirements.

About You:

• Strong technical background in research and innovation with 5 years of experience.
