Building regional capacity and capability for study delivery in your Specialty. Ensure local needs for research delivery are identified and addressed as part of building the capacity and capability for research delivery. Under the RDN Operating Model for strategic development, and Research Delivery Models participate in projects to address any opportunities or challenges identified. Embedding research, engagement and delivery into the NHS and wider care environment. Engage and initiate relevant regional stakeholders as relevant for the purpose of building regional research delivery capacity and capability within your Specialty. Assist in the development and mentorship of future/new Principal Investigators across the health and care sector. Initiating, facilitating and promoting regional cross-specialty and cross-setting collaborations for improved research delivery. The post holder will be based here in Exeter but be expected to travel to Plymouth and Truro to work with the renal clinical teams there. The UKKA is the leading professional body for the UK renal community, improving lives by supporting professionals in the delivery of kidney care and research. They welcome members working in clinical renal care, treating and caring for people with kidney disease, and those working in research, or related sciences and fields. The UK Renal Registry is the part of the UKKA responsible for the collection, analysis, management and development of a high quality clinical renal database. They use data submitted from the 71 adult and 13 paediatric renal centres across the country to create the database. The information, in the form of data and reports, is a shared resource used to develop research into kidney disease to improve the quality of care for renal patients. Main duties 1. Work with key stakeholders, both internal UKKA colleagues and across the participating Kidney Centres (or the relevant assigned Centre), to build an early understanding of the relevant rare disease datasets held in the RaDaR registry and the C3G and IC-MPGN study. 2. Establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders in each assigned Centre, liaising with key contacts to develop an agreed plan for relevant medical records (patients notes and electronic information) and biopsy reports to be accessed. 3. Work with the RaDaR senior data manager to conduct audits of the data, for relevant rare disease groups in each assigned Centre, to establish data gaps and inaccuracies. 4. Conduct on-site visits at relevant Centres, liaising with key contacts to identify priority data items on which to focus enrichment activities. 5. Liaise with UK Renal Registry contacts, particularly the RaDaR senior data manager, to access data completeness reports and updates, and guidance on where to find the data items. 6. Consult this report together with local records (patient notes and other data sources, which will vary depending on the Centre); cross-reference against data held in the RaDaR registry. 7. Where there are inaccuracies or gaps in completeness, manually add, transcribe and enrich the data. 8. Conduct subsequent audits in conjunction with the RaDaR senior data manager to establish and ensure improvements in data quality. 9. Provide regular reports and updates to the senior project manager, Rare Disease Groups and to RaDaR Chairs. These services are delivered for the RRDN, partner organisations and research funders, with particular emphasis on addressing the needs of the life sciences industry (across both commercial contract and commercial collaborative research). These services include Study Support, Agile Research Support, regional support for Active National Delivery, Financial Management and Business Operations. The RRDN Operations Director line manages the Service/Team Leaders for the defined operational services. The purpose of the RDN is to support the effective and efficient initiation and delivery of funded research across the health and care system in England for the benefit of patients, the health and care system and the economy. The RRDN Operations Director is responsible for ensuring research sites have an appropriate level of funding to support and deliver the core NHS service support activities, in line with agreed funding principles. They will establish and maintain proportionate and nationally consistent mechanisms to ensure partner organisations use RDN funding appropriately and effectively. They will also ensure that all necessary contracts or agreements required are in place before funds are provided and will develop mechanisms to be adopted by RDN partner organisations to recover costs from commercial research funders in a timely and effective way. The RRDN Operations Director is responsible for working in collaboration with regional R&D departments in order to support those departments in the delivery of their studies. The RRDN Operations Director will also implement any delivery priorities or initiatives as required by the RDN Coordinating Centre (RDNCC).
