The Science Department

The Science department staff are passionate about the delivery of their ambitious and engaging curriculum. The department is led by the Director of Learning for Science and support by colleagues who have additional responsibility within the learning area. There are specialists in all disciplines who are supported by two excellent technicians. We deliver a bespoke key stage 3 curriculum and pupils are entered for AQA Triple or Combined Science at GCSE. All three sciences are offered at A-level. Each year, we send students to top universities to study science-related degrees.

Our opportunity

The successful candidate will be a committed and creative practitioner, capable of effective and enthusiastic teaching and learning.

In what is our first external teaching post for a few years we are looking to appoint a Science colleague who could be flexible should there be a need to teach in another curriculum area, such as maths (but this is not essential).

You would join a department which is staffed with specialists who are enjoying some of the best outcomes for students whilst continuing to develop an exciting and engaging curriculum offer for our students. A key focus for the department is to build upon recent successes and as a new colleague you will be working closely with a team who will support, develop and challenge you.

We are currently recruiting for an time served plater to work within the fabrication team for a large customer based in the South Tyneside area.

The Role:

* Carry out plating operations following work instructions
* Read and understand drawings to ensure that steel is cut to specification
* Accurately assemble and ensure that plating is carried out to specification
* Cut and prepare plates / sections
* Tack welding and other welds when necessary
* Assemble fabrication work to pass to welders for final assembly

The Person:

* Candidates must be time served through a recognised training programme, such as time served apprenticeship
* Experience of reading and understanding engineering drawings
* Experience with using fabrication equipment
