There is a lot involved in keeping HGVs on the road, so you will gain a full understanding of the importance of 6-week checks, Operators (O) licence’s and legal obligations and as a Technician apprentice, you will receive training to the manufacturer and DVSAs standard

A Heavy Vehicle Service Technician will inspect, maintain, and repair large vehicles weighing 3.5 tonnes and over such as HGV's and buses.
• Servicing – carrying out checks
• Maintenance – replacing / repairing engine parts
• Diagnostics – using the latest diagnostic equipment

You will spend most of your time working within the depot gaining hands-on experience and on the job training under the supervision of a trained mentor.

During your residential training at the Garner Commercials Ltd Training Academy (Remit – Derby), you will cover topics such as engines, transmissions and learn about the latest electronic diagnostic techniques covering all vehicle systems.
Note: The employer has stated that the salary will be slightly above the National Minimum Wage.Training to be Provided

Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release to Remit’s Automotive Academy in Derby. There are a total of 18 x 1 week blocks over the 32 month programme. The costs of hotel accommodation, food and travel are met by the employer and there will be no cost to you.

You will also receive 1-2-1 support from your Development Coach to help you achieve:
• IMI Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3
• Functional Skills Level 2 in English & Maths (if required)

This is not just a driving role. So, what will you do?

• Lift and manoeuvre customers' orders including beds, mattresses and/or bedroom furniture to the room of the customers choice as part of a 2 man delivery team. Ensuring the home is left clean and tidy


• Engage all customers by communicating in a warm, friendly and professional manner, ensuring they are left with a positive impression of our service, championing our products and doing all you can to deliver a great customer experience, as you would expect as a customer yourself.


• Complete your deliveries on time, to schedule and most importantly ensuring your customers are left happy, keeping your customer informed by calling ahead.


• Use the PDA scanner and complete paperwork to ensure customers orders are delivered correctly, promptly and accurately, and working with warehouse and cross dock teams as necessary to ensure products are loaded and delivered safely without damage.


• Ensure your vehicle is clean and fit for the next delivery, monitoring for road worthiness and reporting any defects, ensuring compliance with all transport legal requirements.

Who do we want?

As part of a two-person delivery team our Customer Delivery Drivers will deliver mattresses, bed frames and furniture products into customers homes and may help to assemble the products in their room of choice, being a key representative of the Bensons brand.

So, what will you do?

• Lift and manoeuvre customers orders including beds, mattresses and/or bedroom furniture to the room of the customers choice as part of a 2 man delivery team. Ensuring the home is left clean and tidy
• Engage all customers by communicating in a warm, friendly and professional manner, ensuring they are left with a positive impression of our service, championing Bensons products and doing all you can to deliver a great customer experience, as you would expect as a customer yourself.
• Complete your deliveries on time, to schedule and most importantly ensuring your customers are left happy, keeping your customer informed by calling ahead.
  • Use the PDA scanner and complete paperwork to ensure customers orders are delivered correctly, promptly and accurately, and working with warehouse and cross dock teams as necessary to ensure products are loaded and delivered safely without damage.
  • Support an environment and culture within Bensons for Beds where the Customer is firmly at the centre of everything that we do.
  • Ensure your vehicle is clean and fit for the next delivery to represent Bensons in our communities, monitoring for roadworthiness and reporting any defects, ensuring compliance with all transport legal requirements.

Who do we want?

• You must have a UK driving licence Cat C1 along with a valid driver’s CPC DQ card / valid drivers digital card
• Previous commercial driving experience in a 7.5t vehicle
• Previous experience and understanding of using digital tachographs
• Good people skills and some previous experience in a customer facing role
• Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy items of furniture with manual handling experience is essential
• Understanding of EU Driving legislation and tachograph law
• Desirable experience of using a PDA

We have immediate work available for class 2 HIAB drivers within the Rotherham area. You will be working for one of the UK’s most highly reputable builders merchants.

Your daily duties will include you having to deliver several different types of building materials to sites and residential properties across Yorkshire being a total of approximately 3-4 drops a day.

• Previous experience in operating a remote grab HIAB
• Valid certificate or licence to operate an HIAB

CLASS 1 Driver

Main Duties:

• Transport the loads to desired destination.
• Maintain accurate records relating to work undertaken, vehicle information and checks, accident reporting, near miss reporting, hours worked, vehicle movements (via tachograph) etc.
