As Assistant Controller, Division HQ, you will lead & manage the consolidation of Strategic and Financial Planning processes for total ADC. This includes the Rolling Latest Best Estimate (RLBE) process, quarterly confirmation process and month end close activities. This role and the team reporting to it will provide leadership oversight, coordination and planning, in order to execute the financial planning processes and ensure timeliness, accuracy and integrity of financial information. In addition, this role will act as the key liaison for Diabetes Care supporting Medical Device HQ’s, Corporate FP&A, as well as the Corporate Tax organization.
This role is responsible for delivering analytics and business support to enable informed decision making by the executive staff as well as presentation of performance summaries to be shared with senior leaders across the organization. This is an onsite opportunity in Alameda, CA.
What You'll Do
- Reporting to the Division Controller Position and interacts regularly with VPs, Directors, Managers and has full responsibility for coordinating, consolidating, and developing an Annual Plan, Latest Best Estimate (RLBE) and other financial forecasts for all aspects of ADC division.
- Set expectations of the financial organizations’ role in support of the business strategies and help lead Division financial key policies such as OEM, Plan and/or standard costs & Gross Margin analytics.
- Be the liaison between Division Finance and various finance teams within ADC as well as Medical Devices HQ and Corporate Functions.
- Develop and maintain a financial organization capable of meeting Division and Corporate requirements. Responsible for staff development, mentoring, performance management, engagement and recruiting.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of 8 including 2 Senior Finance Managers
- Lead the Divisions as it relates to Overall Exchange reporting including detailed analytics and presentations to Corporate FP&A on a monthly basis as well as quarterly as part of the RLBE process.
- Leadership/oversight and coordination of the Division's Balance Sheet/Cashflow financial planning activities including the compilation, analysis, and distribution of management review packages for OEM, Plan, RLBE’s and quarterly Confirmations.
- Leadership/oversight of the preparation and analysis of Capital projects for the above planning activities as well as for month – end Actuals.
- Support Business development and corporate teams with any new project/partnership linked to ADC future opportunities.
- Maintain an effective and efficient planning process for the division and functional areas being supported, including the coordination of a planning calendar with key dates and deliverables.
- Proactively develop and present analytics to drive financial and operating excellence across all areas.
EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Master’s Degree MBA in Accounting or Finance preferred, but not required
- Minimum 10 years accounting or finance experience.
- Demonstrated success in managing finance professionals. Strong leadership competencies are a must: set vision and strategy, build and inspire, know the business, drive for results, make complex decisions and encourage an open environment.
- Experience in performance development/review of staff required.
- Financial Planning Experience in either a Commercial, Manufacturing or Corporate background
- Incumbent will demonstrate problem solving and analysis within a broad framework of Abbott’s financial policies (CFMs), and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Business problems are solved through the identification of pertinent data and subsequent collection, analysis, and interpretation thereof.
- This position requires an individual with the ability and desire to search out and evaluate business problems and opportunities, as well as the capability to direct efforts to achieve answers and results.

The base pay for this position is
$186,300.00 – $372,700.00
