Therapy Support Assistant – Northwest
Do you have a passion for high quality patient care? Can you support transition across the patient pathway in partnership with local Trust and clinicians? Do you hold a Level 3 Health and Social Care Specific Qualification (NVQ, Apprenticeship, Diploma)?
Ideally you will have experience of caring for patients in their own home and/or experience of delivering patient training.
We have an opportunity within our Home Therapies team for a Therapy Support Assistant who will support our NHS partners to train and support patients and/or their carers to administer Peritoneal Dialysis and Home Haemodialysis independently. This is a newly created role to both the company and the NHS.
This is a regional role which covers an agreed geographical area of Northwest Region with some travel to the North of the UK, therefore a full UK Driving Licence will be required.
This is a full-time of 37.5 hours, usually working Monday to Friday. You will be field based in the Northwest Region with ad hoc requirements to attend Head Office (Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire) for meetings and also occasional team days.
What does the role involve?
You will:
* Be delivering high-quality, hands-on training to patients within their own home, hospital, clinic, or any other location deemed suitable by the Lead Therapy Specialist Nurse, dependent on individual needs.
* Plan and co-ordinate patient training sessions under the direct supervision of the Therapy Specialist Nurse for your region
* Liaise directly with the relevant NHS Trust regarding patient’s suitability for 1:1/Group training and take in to account any physical, emotional, social, cultural and spiritual needs.
* Promote continuing psychological support to patients and their families in order to ensure the well-being of the patient.
* Ensure maintenance of all patient’s records both paper and electronically
* Work closely with the Therapy Specialist Nurse, Regional Business Manager and Clinical unit managers.
