To support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients across the service, providing psychological assessment and interventions under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. To work independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified Clinical psychologist and within the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and / or research projects, teaching and project work.

We are a patient centred charity that delivers palliative and end of life care to thousands of people each year with advanced life-limiting illnesses who live in Northwest Surrey. The Hospice also provides support to their carers and families in patient homes, in care or nursing homes, or through its In-Patient Unit at the Hospice, as well as through the Bradbury Wellbeing Centre. The role of the Band 4 therapy assistant is an essential component in supporting and complementing the Hospice therapy team ensuring that the highest standards of care are implemented and that services meet statutory regulations and national standards. Job Summary To work as part of the WSBH therapy team to support the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in their duties, and contribute to the holistic care of patients under the care of Woking and Sam Beare Hospices To work flexibly and collaboratively with all disciplines as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to promote a high standard of therapeutic and rehabilitative care for patients under the care of Woking and Sam Beare Hospice. This will involve work across community, inpatient and Wellbeing services. To be responsible for a delegated caseload of patients who have had an initial assessment by a qualified therapist, and to provide follow-up visits, equipment provision and advice to patients and their families / carers as appropriate To undertake skilled and effective communication with patients and their relatives as well as the wider multi-disciplinary team To complete onward referrals as required and communicate well with external and internal agencies to ensure patient-centred care at all times

Role Responsibilities Clinical Duties Be able to contribute to the planning and preparation of resources as directed by the SaLT and OT team. To carry out regular group and/or 1:1 therapy sessions with students in a range of environments. To contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of interventions implemented by the SaLT and OT team. To complete in-person audits when required. To model communication aids to staff and students ensuring to advocate for their use. To regularly feedback to designated therapist within the clinical team. To maintain adequate records in line with policies and guidelines. To maintain databases with direction from the clinical team. Administration Duties To participate in the process of ordering materials and equipment. To take responsibility for the safe storage, provision, use and maintenance of equipment and materials. To contribute to the maintenance of clinical records & data analysis. Performs clerical duties within the department, including maintenance of client files and records under the direction of the therapist. To carry out other administrative tasks in relation to the service as required. To maintain stationary stocks. Archive students files as required. Support the team in pursuing outstanding paperwork. Maintenance of the shared work drive. Filing, scanning and photocopying as required. Minute taking. To schedule meetings and coordinate attendance as requested. Answering the phone and directing queries. Clinical Governance and Quality Standards To participate in local governance and audit activities as required by the company. To collect statistical and performance information as required. Legislation To comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act. To comply with all other legislation relevant to mental health services and policies/ procedures for the company. Service Development To assist in the monitoring, evaluation and development of the clinical team at the college Professional Development To participate in regular supervision and agreed appraisal process. To attend training courses and events as required. Your Role Service Line: Mental Health Adults (High dependency rehabilitation) Summary of the site Cygnet Woking is a 93 bedded hospital with a variety of different wards, including locked rehab, low secure services, acute services and a female PICU. We have a designated qualified OT and OTA on each ward as well as Activity Coordinators supporting the activities around the hospital. We are currently recruiting for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Occupational Therapy Team to support recovery and rehabilitation activities in the integrated care pathway at Cygnet. You will mainly be working on the female low secure ward but there will be some crossover and opportunity for rotation as you progress within the role. The Occupational Therapy Assistant role involves planning and implementing therapeutic activities appropriate to the needs, choices and interests of individuals in our care, under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist. The Occupational Therapy Assistant will also be working with the in-house MDT which is designed to support the individual in our care throughout their journey with us.
