About the role

The faculty of Construction are now looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Programme Leader to join the well-established Carpentry and Joinery team. This is a fast paced and diverse role, in which you will work closely with other Programme Leaders in providing high quality teaching aged 16 plus, teaching Level 1, 2 and 3 in Carpentry and Joinery.

Other duties will include:

Teaching, facilitating and tracking of learner progress.
Assessment of learner progress against targeted achievement.
Ensuring the provision of high-quality pastoral and supportive care of learners as part of the whole learner journey.
Ensure the provision of highly effective guidance to learners to assist them through their programme and in their progression onto a positive destination, for example higher learning or employment.

About the role

The Learner Services team are looking to recruit an Intensive Support Officer to join the Safeguarding team. In this role, you will work directly with students needing Safeguarding support, making any necessary referrals into external agencies and provide in-house support. You will support and arrange any cross college events related to safeguarding. As part of this, you must be willing to support all sites where required.

About the person

Applicants should hold a minimum level 2 safeguarding qualification and evidence their extensive experience and knowledge of safeguarding children and young people. The successful applicant should have experience of working as a Safeguarding lead and multi-agency working. An understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education is also essential.

About the role

To work within our Maintenance Team and be able to carry out tasks without close supervision including a variety of manual tasks, which are an essential part of this role. Other duties include:

Complete planned maintenance tasks efficiently within agreed timescales.
Undertake project works as directed by line management.
Ensuring the security and general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas are maintained in accordance with the required standards.
Observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties.

About the person

The successful candidate will be/have:

Experience of several trades (carpentry, ground works, tiling or decorating, basic plumbing and electrics)
Completing jobs such as fixing dripping taps/toilet cisterns, painting and decorating, fitting shelves, moving equipment, cleaning drains, carpet cleaning.
Working as part of an estate’s maintenance team
Knowledge of health and safety, COSHH, manual handling, PPE usage
Working at height (occasional)

This is a fast-paced and diverse role, in which you will work closely with Programme Leaders and the head of area to provide high quality and responsive technical support.

Other duties will include:

Undertaking workshop activities, such as setting out for practical sessions.
Order equipment to ensure a readily available supply of materials for lessons.
Maintaining records relating to health and safety, safe systems of work and risk assessments.
Update workshops as required.
Comply with financial regulations and record budget transactions.

About the person

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work closely with a team of engineering Programme Leaders and other technicians within the orginisation.

Candidates should also have:

Level 2/GCSE Maths and English
Level 2 Mechanical / Electrical Engineering qualification
Prior experience working in a mechanical / electrical engineering environment
Experience of a variety of computer systems.
