Carpentry and Joinery Technician - The Role

Carpentry and Joinery Technician - Key Responsibilities
- Support Learning: Assist instructors in delivering high-quality carpentry training by preparing materials, tools, and equipment for practical sessions.
- Maintain Workshop: Ensure the carpentry workshop is safe, clean, and well-organised, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Equipment Management: Maintain and repair tools and machinery, ensuring all equipment is in optimal working condition.
- Student Assistance: Provide guidance and support to students during practical sessions, helping them develop their skills and confidence.
- Resource Management: Manage inventory of materials and tools, ordering supplies as needed to ensure seamless operation of the workshop.
- Collaborate: Work closely with the carpentry teaching staff to enhance the learning experience and contribute to curriculum development.
Carpentry and Joinery Technician - You
To apply, you will hold:
Level 2 (GCSE A-C) qualification in English and Maths or a willingness to work toward them.
- Level 3 qualification or above in a relevant subject area or equivalent knowledge and experience in wood machining or carpentry and joinery.
- Experience: Proven experience in carpentry, with a strong background in both practical and theoretical aspects of the trade.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
- Skills: Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students and staff.
