This position serves as Supply Technician (Medical) for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System. Administrative Work (60%):

• Managing the fleet of Government vehicles assigned to the CRRC by completing vehicle checks as required by the VACI HS motor pool and accrediting bodies; coordinating scheduling of maintenance and repairs with the motor pool which may include taking the vehicle to be serviced, submitting vehicle logs, receipts, etc. per policy, and coordinating of other tasks that may be necessary.
• Completing an inventory when items are donated, organizing donated items and submitting donation forms to Voluntary Services per protocol.

• Shift Differential - 10% of basic pay for work performed during regularly scheduled hours between 6pm and 6am.
• Weekend Premium - 25% of basic pay for work performed between the hours of midnight Friday and midnight Sunday. This includes continuous service connected to work performed during these hours.
• Holiday Pay - 2 times basic hourly rate for regularly scheduled, non-overtime work on a designated holiday.

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Pulls stock inventory and material for delivery; replenishes stock inventory; interacts with clinical and administrative customers and maintains records on stock levels;
• Communicates to the Lead or Supervisor any concerns related to supplies, equipment and procedures.
• Provides information to customers regarding medical supplies;
• Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock to limit outdates and removes items from use as required by outdates;
• Monitors and controls critical supplies;
• Performs daily inventory using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment;
• Resolves differences between records and physical count of stock;
• Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management systems;
• Delivers supplies in a timely manner and ensures supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition;
• Completes specialty cart preparation;
• Cleans assigned secondary areas in accordance with aseptic principles; and
• Receives supplies and material into the medical center's catchment area.

The NA provides direct patient care to patients requiring nursing care and observation on a regular and ongoing basis in an inpatient, CLC and/or outpatient setting. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or providers, the NA is accountable for adhering to the standards of care, standards of practice and maintaining competencies with role and responsibility, while adhering to VACIHCS policies and procedures.

Duties of this position are, but not limited to:

• Recognizes emergency situations, calls for help, initiates emergency procedures until help arrives and continues to be available to the response team until the emergency is resolved
• Completes assignments, reports to the accountable LPN/RN when assignment has been completed, or when unable to complete activities.
• Uses communication skill such as observing, listening, reflection, and identification of non-verbal messages to interact with patients; recognizes communication barriers
• Assists providers and nurses in positioning patients for bedside procedures(e.g., lumbar puncture, chest tube insertion)
• Adheres to safety measures related to patients at risk for falling
• Suicidal and Homicidal Ideation precautions implemented ( sweeping room and unit area of any potential items of danger); assists in initiation of and monitoring of patient with seclusion/behavioral management as directed, appropriate use and care of protective/restraint devices.
• Performs, records and reports blood glucose testing using the finger stick method at the bedside
• Sets up/monitors/records suction canister /equipment/supplies in the patient room
• Collects and delivers specimens, as directed
• Applies cardiac monitor leads to the patient's chest/performs EKG as applicable by unit and competency
• Takes & records temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respirations, pulse oximetry, height & weight
• Able to adjust to assignment changes.

NOTE: This is a TERM appointment (not-to-exceed 9/25/2025). Term appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration (more than 1 year but not more than 4). This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-9. This position serves as an Inventory Manager in the Commodity Management Division of the Logistics Service in the Veteran Affairs (VA) Health Care System responsible for the inventory and management of all expendable supplies and durable medical equipment in the assigned area(s). Major duties and responsibilities include:

• Manages and controls an assigned class of expendable material for a Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area. Recognized as an authority on expendable (EX) material commodity management and serves as a subject matter expert to all services and service lines. Inventories managed include a wide variety of expendable items and durable medical equipment (DME) which may or may not be available through the Medical/Surgical Prime Vendor (MSPV) program or other negotiated or Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) contracts.
• Conducts short, mid and long-term advanced planning for expendable items and durable medical equipment (DME), utilizing enterprise-wide computerized planning tools. Analyzes data to include demand history, program requirements, Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) operations, procurement lead-time, current stock levels and other factors which impact procurement decisions. Advanced planning requires significant interaction and coordination with service lines, biomedical engineering, and other stakeholders to balance competing priorities including clinical requirements and budget constraints. Computes requirements for supplies and durable medical equipment (DME).
• Develops acquisition strategies to acquire and purchase durable medical equipment (DME), displaying familiarity with contracting laws and regulations with industry practices. Supports customers and acquisition personnel in developing requirements, utilizing mandatory sources and standardization of sources. Exercises Ordering Officer Authority in determining best value and contract sourcing.
• Analyzes inventory management reports including due-in reports, pending backorder reports, outdated inventory reports, inventory balance reports and 90-day inactive reports. Assures that replenishment orders are approved and released in a timely manner by reviewing requisitions, documents, and other related reference material. Expedites delivery of urgent requirements through correspondence and telephone calls to vendors, manufacturers or other organizations. Verifies receipt documents for accuracy.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
