The Catering Department of the Dorset County Hospital is seeking a Catering Assistant to help in the service of patients, Staff and Visitors within our retail operations.
This job will involve food preparation, customer service, use of tills, catering equipment (i.e., coffee machines, vending machines etc)
You will be a dynamic and essential member of the team that supports the nutritional requirements of the patient’s staff and visitors of the hospital.
We all help to maintain the high standard of cleanliness and food hygiene that are required for the hospital and cleaning duties are included.
The successful applicants would be able to demonstrate impressive customer care skills and undertake on-line training as these are very important aspects of the role.

• As a Catering, you will provide a valued service to the Hospital in the central service of patient and staff meals and ensuring that the Trust maintains its high standards of cleanliness, food safety & hygiene.
Safely deliver patient’s meals in time to the wards throughout the Hospital, return Hot lock trollies to the kitchen, empty and thoroughly clean and sanitise trollies to expected high standards after every service, Breakfast, Lunch and Supper.
Receiving and communicating necessary information between the kitchen and consumer, customer, or patient with a view to providing an efficient and safe service
You will also gain experience in our retail outlets, serving staff and visitors food and drinks.

Working closely with the Catering and Stores Admin teams in delivering and maintaining Ward provision stock levels, (i.e. milk, bread, sandwiches, drinks, Etc.) ensuring, food and drink is; in date, at the correct stock levels and stored appropriately, including consumables, cutlery and drinking vessels.
In between Hot lock trolley duties you will support the Catering Assistants with the central patient meal service and the operation of the central dishwashing process, working as part of a team in the mechanical washing of patients, staff and visitor’s crockery and cutlery, and other general cleaning duties within all areas of the catering environment.
