To work independently and autonomously, providing assessment, support, care, treatment and advice to individuals, within guidelines and protocols identified for the role.
§ To work within a multi-professional team undertaking practitioner role across two hospital sites, predominantly The Horton General Hospital in Banbury.
§ On a day to day basis, and in consultation with the Physiotherapist and psychologist, to monitor the client’s progress, assess their response to treatment and use analytical skills to make judgement on when to change / progress programmes, informing the senior clinicians of any changes and updating the client’s record.
§ To plan and implement treatment and care to patients within professional guidelines e.g. delivery of rehabilitation programmes, guided self-help etc.
§ To keep the patient at the centre of his or her care, ensuring patient and carer participation in decision making.
§ To take responsibility for the care and support of delegated patients.
§Deliver treatment/care as specified in a rehabilitation programme/ psychological formulation outline, under the guidance of a registered practitioner.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with good communication skills and experience of team working. The candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to motivate and reassure patients as well as providing rehabilitation, as recommended by the psychologist and physiotherapist.
The post holder will work as part of the Pain Rehabilitation Unit, in a multidisciplinary team (including psychologists), to assist with group rehabilitation programmes for patients with long term pain. The applicant will be provided with training and support to help develop the necessary skills for working with this population of patients.
The role also involves working with small groups of patients in the gym independently and leading telephone guided self-help. Full training will be provided.

Clinical

• Undertake protocol based psychological assessments of service users applying psychological self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users.
• Assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and / or management of a service users difficulties, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist.
• Attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings
• Maintain appropriate records in electronic or hard copy in line with Trust policies and Professional guidelines. Includes workload data and using word processing skills to produce service user related reports
• To support qualified clinicians, promoting best practice.
• Assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all service users of the service, across all settings where care takes place.
• Develop and maintain skills required for patients within a pain rehabilitation setting.
• To participate in regular supervision and appraisal and take responsibility for own professional development.
