Applications are invited for this prestigious post, which offers advanced training and experience in all aspects of upper limb surgery. The post would be most suitable for a trainee with CCT or a year 6 orthopaedic trainee, with FRCS (Orth) or equivalent, Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise and with a special interest in knee surgery. These are 12 month appointments however candidates who are interested in a 6 month post may also be considered. As one of the largest Orthopaedic Departments in the country, the full spectrum of upper limb surgery is performed in Derby.

The Upper Limb Fellow will be directly involved in the day to day care of the Trauma & Orthopaedic patients admitted to their firm. There is a day to day commitment to clinics & operating sessions with the opportunity to experience the full spectrum of upper limb surgery including primary elbow and shoulder replacements along with shoulder, elbow and wrist arthroscopies. During each six month rotation you will work for either Mr Clark and Mr Cresswell (this also includes a day in the Pulvertaft Hand Unit) Mr Espag or Mr Tambe team

Independent elective operating may be possible as the appointee’s experience increases. The timetable may alter depending upon current needs however we will endeavor to utilise the cover sessions for upper limb related Clinics/Theatres and or trauma lists.

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint to a Senior Clinical Fellow in ENT Surgery within University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, for 6 months from February to August 2025.

The appointee will be actively involved in the running of the ENT unit including participating in ward rounds, theatre lists, day case lists and outpatient clinics, as well as providing support for the Consultants, SAS Doctors and junior medical team.

We are looking to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Intensive Care Medicine with a specific interest in the use of echocardiography and ultrasound in critically ill patients. It is a 12 month fixed term post with duties at the Royal Derby Hospital.

The job will help fill the knowledge and experience gap that many trainees and clinicians have in using echocardiography and ultrasound on ICU. It is anticipated that fellows who complete a year would be able to apply for FICE accreditation, gain considerable experience in teaching and supervising both TTE and TOE, publish research in this area and have a working knowledge of the use of focused ultrasound in critically ill patients.

The appointee will work on the ICU with a 1:8 on call. This post offers the appointee the opportunity to gain experience in TTE, TOE, lung and focused abdominal ultrasound, No previous experience in these areas is required. Once trained, the appointee will also use the simulator to run teaching sessions and help deliver our accredited echo course. TOE is gradually being introduced into the anaesthetic service and the fellow would be expected to help expand this role.

The ICU work closely with the cardiology department and the appointee will be offered the opportunity to attend and contribute to the monthly joint ECHO meeting and to work with echo technicians in the department. We have several audit and research projects that the appointee could contribute to.
