CLINICAL Assist in the development and implementation of integrated care pathways, including appropriate service user referrals and models of care. We are seeking a Senior Assistant Technical Officer (SATO) to join our Internal Services Section. This is an exciting opportunity to take on supervisory responsibilities, ensuring the smooth running of daily operations while making a key impact on the quality control processes of the laboratory. Job Purpose: As the Senior Assistant Technical Officer, you will lead and supervise the Assistant Technical Officers (ATOs) in the laboratorys Internal Services Section. You will be responsible for overseeing the processing of laboratory test samples, maintaining laboratory supplies, ensuring equipment is serviced and operational, and managing the cleanliness of the work environment. Your role will also include recording test results, maintaining data in IT systems, and upholding compliance with all regulatory and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Assistant Technical Officers. Read and record test results, including sterility tests, in line with laboratory procedures. Conduct microbiological identification tests using a range of instrumental and classical techniques. Manage and maintain stocks of consumables and equipment, ensuring availability for daily operations. Validate microbiology kits and sterility test samples as per laboratory standards. Ensure completion of all required paperwork, managing deviations, change controls, and out-of-specification results. Carry out basic microbiological tests, including bioburdens and tests on non-sterile samples. Monitor incubation temperatures and storage conditions using the Check-It monitoring system. Oversee the disposal of laboratory waste following Trust procedures. Key Skills and Attributes: Strong leadership and organisational skills to manage a small team. Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in test results and documentation. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients, suppliers, and laboratory staff. Ability to manage workloads effectively, including planning for absences and fluctuating demand. A commitment to infection control policies, equality, and diversity in the workplace. The Team supports the community populations across Exeter, East and Mid Devon; the Team are based in Ottery St Mary. We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic, experienced nurses to the Band 6 role of Community Nurse Specialist. You will be able to demonstrate your enthusiasm and commitment to community nursing, highly developed clinical skills to share as the clinical expert and be able to evidence your leadership skills/experience to support junior team members. The post-holder will be supported by the Team Manager and a Clinical Matron. Our Out of Hours Team, consists of nurses and healthcare assistants. The team provides unplanned care to ensure we support the needs of our populations around the clock, undertaking responsive holistic nursing and social care as required. The caseload covers a broad range including end of life care, admission avoidance and support for timely hospital discharge. The team also provide clinical support for our Urgent Community Response support workers between the hours of 5pm 10pm. This post provides a huge opportunity to harness the enthusiasm of the current team to develop the service further, enhancing the nursing skills of junior staff to broaden the provision available to patients. Support will be given to undertake the SPQ qualification. Applicants will be required to commit to all shift patterns within the team, however preferences will be taken into consideration; applicants will need to be comfortable with driving, sometimes long distances across the geography; the team uses Trust pool cars. Working Pattern: The team currently provides a service from 16:00 08:00 hours worked over 2 shift patterns 16:00 00:00 hours and 22:30 08:00 hours; consideration will be given for applicants expressing a wish to work 12 hour shifts.
