Reporting to the Head of Engineering you will be spearheading a Maritime project to lead a team of 5 in the role of Design Authority. You will be responsible for requirements analysis, software design and development, system/software engineering, acceptance, technical governance and mentoring of the design team.

About the team

Working as part of the Year 11/12 Transition Service you will support young people at risk of becoming NEET (not in employment, education or training) to identify progress to an appropriate post-16 destination. This will involve liaising with parents/carers, schools, further education and training providers, employers and other relevant professionals. This role has a starting salary of £25,846 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week across 42 weeks per year pro-rata to £37,897. The role is term time, plus an additional 15 days per year.

About the Service

The School-Aged Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service is part of Surrey County Council's local SEND offer, working collaboratively in the Inclusion & Additional Needs team in Surrey's Children, Families and Lifelong Learning Directorate, with other teams like Educational Psychology and specialist Teachers.

We aim to deliver the right support at the right time through assessment and intervention, and by equipping families and professionals with the skills and resources to work together to help and support children with SLCN. We follow the Balance model to offer universal, targeted and specialist support for children, families and the school workforce, and work with children and young people with EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plan) and those at SEN (Special Education Needs) support.

About the role

This is a great opportunity to work across schools in Surrey. The post is predominantly mainstream based, with the potential for working in a special school or specialist centre for 1 or 2 days per week depending on service needs and your experience.

Your main duties in the role of Senior Speech and Language Therapy Assistant will include but not be limited to:

• Working individually with a child/ young person within the school or with small groups
• Modelling strategies to class teachers/ teaching assistants
• Making resources for the therapy team
• Offering shadowing opportunities and peer support to less experienced SLTAs
• Contributing to project work

Shortlisting criteria

• 2 years' experience of working with children and young people as a SLT Assistant as part of a Speech and Language Therapy Team either within mainstream or specialist schools and centres

Spelthorne Locality Team is one of eleven locality teams working across Surrey to support our adult residents with physical disabilities and older persons. You will be working in the surrounding areas of Staines, Ashford, Sunbury, Shepperton and Laleham. We aim to promote people's independence and wellbeing, through personalised care and support that focuses upon their strengths, the outcomes they want to achieve and enables choice and control.
