As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-5801-10, you will assign work orders to specific crewmembers and select workers for various jobs on the basis of knowledge, skills, and abilities; assure that there is enough work to keep the work crew busy; troubleshoot, perform maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles; troubleshoot equipment and diagnose the cause of mechanical failures; remove and disassemble engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems; independently perform repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locations; conduct readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity; assist in the maintenance of production reports and records, and make recommendations to the supervisor.

• Serve as a leadership Training Specialist, responsible for the development of viable USAJFKSWCS leadership training products, materials, and programs for the ARSOF.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for resident training options and instructional delivery modes, including distance learning for professional development at all levels (WO, NCO and officer).
• Exercise an in-depth practical knowledge of program objectives and policies and regulations.
• Identify and solve systematic leadership training problems or shortfalls by maintaining a continuing dialog with regional planners, i.e. US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), and Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC).

As a working leader, performs the following duties: Distributes and balances workload among employees. Observes work in progress, production, adherence to quality and safety standards. Instructs and trains new employees. Elevates unresolved employee complaints or operational issues to supervisor. Provides input on performance, progress, and disciplinary problems. Reports all repair and maintenance requirements according to established policy. Reports all safety violations to immediate supervisor. Updates computer database with room status, occupancy, check-outs and reports on housekeeping area. Ensures adequate stock of cleaning materials and equipment required to do the work. Assists custodial worker in selecting and using cleaning agents safely and cost effectively and instructs them in planning sequence of work.
Performs custodial worker duties as time permits or as assigned by supervisor. Cleans guest rooms, storerooms, corridors, stairways, facilities and other areas. Scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using heavy (industrial-type) powered scrubbers and buffers. Washes walls, using powered wall washing machine. Vacuum cleans rugs, using heavy (industrial-type) vacuum cleaners. Adjusts, cleans, and oils these machines, and changes brushers, rollers, buffers, and other attachments on them. Washes and replaces venetian blinds and washers ceiling fixtures and room partitions, using ladders and scaffolds. Moves heavy furniture, supplies and equipment. Collects soiled linen and replaces with clean linen.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
