Are you a dedicated Health, Safety, Environment, and Fire (HSEF) professional looking for an exciting challenge? Serco is recruiting a HSEF Manager for our Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC) within the Justice & Immigration business unit. As an HSEF Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, environmental sustainability, and quality assurance across our AASC contract. You will be a focal SME providing on-site specialist HSEF advice, assurance and support and ensuring the BU HSEF provision is managed in accordance with corporate, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
Site visibility is crucial, and you’ll be expected to visit the contracts within your remit on occasion for effective hands-on HSEF oversight and engagement with our colleagues and customers. You’ll also be expected to travel to our office in Warrington, or other sites around the UK for meetings and site visits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on HSEF issues, providing guidance to all managers and colleagues.
- Promote understanding of and adherence to corporate, contractual, and regulatory HSEF requirements.
- Advise and support the Contract Director and operational staff measures to manage HSEF related risks and vulnerabilities.
- Guide, support, and promote the development, implementation, and continual improvement of protocols necessary to embed a consistent, sustainable HSEF management system and culture within J&I contracts.
- Support operational staff and advise upon the processes necessary to ensure HSEF awareness and best practices are understood and shared across J&I contracts.
- Review and provide specialist advice on Fire Risk Assessments and HSEF inspections as determined by contractual requirements.
- Liaise with external agencies as necessary (Fire, Local Authority, UKHSA) and collaborate with other HSEF professionals within UK&E to facilitate the sharing of HSEF related information and best practice.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience of managing HSEF.
- Minimum NEBOSH Level 3.
- Member of IOSH.
- Fire Risk Assessment and Environmental qualifications.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Genuine enthusiasm for HSEF matters, showcasing self-motivation and a drive to effect positive change.
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, effectively convey ideas and initiatives.
- Display exceptional organisational skills, working independently and efficiently to prioritise workload and meet fixed deadlines.
