What are the Major Duties of this Position?

Under the supervision of the Captain, serves as a shift supervisor in the Correctional Services department, giving supervision and guidance to a subordinate staff of correctional officers involving work performance, interpretation of policy, handling of problems concerning the inmate population.

Shares responsibility in the supervision of other correctional staff and effectively maintains the security of the institution. In emergency situations, takes prompt and decisive action to determine the nature and cause of the emergency.

Authorizes changes in institutional operations when necessary to meet emergency situations.

Responsible for implementing post orders, investigates tort claims and drafts responses for administrative remedies.

Investigates reported violations of prohibited acts, (i.e. assaults, escapes, introduction of contraband, disturbances or other illicit activities), taking appropriate actions as dictated by the seriousness of the violation.

Participates in and conducts regularly scheduled instruction and training classes relating to correctional procedures and techniques and makes appropriate recommendations for training based upon assessments of needs by the incumbent.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

AS a AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC, WG-8602-10 (TITLE 32) you will, troubleshoots malfunctioning engines and interrelated propulsion system components, determines degree of disassembly or certification required, repairs or replaces defective components, diagnostic computers and associated hardware. Troubleshoot, modify, repair, and perform sequential disassembly and assembly of gearboxes and auxiliary power units. Perform scheduled and special evaluations on installed engines, auxiliary power units, and associated airframe-mounted systems. Perform command directed and locally established in-progress inspections (IPI) (certifying acceptable performance of all conventional or modified aircraft engines prior to their being installed in the aircraft or placed in inventory) of propulsion system components and associated equipment to determine adequacy of workmanship, materials and maintenance. Requisition, process, and account for supply assets as required by the repairable processing system. Provide technical advice and troubleshooting expertise to other work centers when propulsion systems affect or are affected by interrelated aircraft systems, such as: electro-environmental, pneudraulic, fuel and avionics systems. Provide on-the-job training to lower graded personnel or newly assigned personnel regardless of grade. Examine recurring malfunctions and initiates corrective actions by submission of quality deficiency or software deficiency reports. Serve as the hazardous materials manager as required. Prepare for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Inspections (ORI), Inspector General (IG) Inspections, Unit Effectiveness Inspections and mobility and command support exercises. Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsible for security of the special housing unit and the safe, secure housing of all inmates within the unit. Responsible for maintaining and documenting the various programs within the unit, i.e. feeding, recreation, unit sanitation, personal hygiene and medical. Responsible for the care, custody and security of offenders who have been placed within the Special Housing Unit.

Ensures that all systems interface within IDS. Formulate and consolidate logistical annexes for IDS guidance based on regulations, manuals, instructions, and directives issued by higher headquarters. At the direction of, and in conjunction with the logistics staff, identifies required deployment/redeployment support with the wing staff, serving as the NCOIC of the Redeployment Assistance Team (RAT), Air Mobility Command (AMC), and Air Combat Command (ACC) for the transportation of equipment and personnel. Review OPLANS, Concept Plans (CONPLANS), Concept of Operations (CONOP), USAF Special Operation Plans, Exercise Plans, and Execution Orders for tasking from higher headquarters.
